Come join our team! We're looking for an enthusiastic Cafe Team Member that makes Grand Central Bakery's vibrant cafes such wonderful spaces. Cafe Team Members are passionate about preparing and serving delicious food and drink to a community of loyal customers.
Job Summary: The Café Team Member's role is an integral part of the efficient, enthusiastic team that makes Grand Central Bakery's vibrant cafes such wonderful spaces to be in. The Café Team Member is passionate about preparing and serving delicious food and drink to a community of loyal customers. Café Team Member can work the following shifts: Retail Open, Mid-Shift, Retail Close. The Café Team Member is expected to regularly and efficiently work on the sandwich bar and barista station.
Rate of Pay: This position pays $22.05 plus tips (this is a part-time position, non-exempt role)
  • Tips average $7.00 - $9.00 per hour.

Specific requirements: Must be able to start work as early as 3:00AM for bake shifts
Schedule Requirements: Grand Central Bakery operates 7 days a week/365 days a year. Schedule flexibility and the ability to work weekends is required.

Supervision: This position reports to the Café Manager.
Essential job responsibilities:
• Proficient on Point-of-Sale System
• Serves bread and pastry to customers while ensuring both meet GCB specs
• Makes and serves all sandwiches according to GCB specs- including during a rush
• Makes and serves all coffee and espresso drinks according to GCB specs- including during a rush, and is proficient at latte art
• Displays product knowledge of all items on our menus
• Knows and regularly works the duties of multiple shifts, including Retail Open, Retail Close, and Mid/Swing shifts
• Works in a way that maintains a clean cafe environment including: bussing, washing dishes, and executing all necessary café cleaning tasks.
• Has a "pitches in" mentality, can be seen volunteering with duties or helping others
• Adheres to proper cash handling procedures and standards with a high level of accuracy
• Uses checklists and training documents to become competent and proficient with the cafe systems
• Knows and acts in accordance with the mission, vision, and values of Grand Central Bakery in all parts of their job.
• Works collaboratively with a team. Communicates respectfully and professionally with teammates.
• Delivers excellent customer service - follows the 3 steps to great service at all times.
