Job description

POSITION:   Summer School Health Support

                     Temporary Summer Position 

LOCATION:    Canton High School

SUMMER SCHOOL SCHEDULE:      

                      5 weeks 

                      June 22 July 23, 2026

                      Monday - Thursday

HOURS:          7:00am 2:00pm

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High school graduate or equivalent.
  2. Ability to organize work and projects.
  3. Ability to take initiative and work independently without direct supervision.
  4. Ability to maintain confidential information.
  5. Working knowledge of Gmail, Google Docs, and MiStar.
  6. Excellent oral and written communication skills including document and letter preparation.
  7. Ability to set, manage, and coordinate multiple priorities.
  8. Good organizational and communication skills.
  9. Good attendance record

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Provide care and support to students who demonstrate symptoms suggestive of COVID-19 during the school day (under the direction of the school nurse). Use of PPE will be required.
  2. Implements the district's health and safety protocols.
  3. Works directly with students, staff, parents, and administrators.
  4. Provide care and support to students with chronic and acute health needs, including administration of medication.
  5. Check vital signs as warranted.
  6. Follows health and wellness guidelines and protocols including documenting student clinic visits, contacting parents/guardians to pick up students, and cleaning, disinfecting, sanitizing clinic when necessary.
  7. Contacts the school nurse with any questions, concerns regarding student illnesses and follow up.
  8. Bending, lifting, and overhead work required.
  9. Performs other tasks as assigned.

SALARY/STIPEND:   $2,500.00 paid in two equal installments (July 10 & August 10)

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and talk or hear and sometimes walk and sit.   Occasionally the employee will bend or twist at the neck more than the average person. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally push or lift up to 50 lbs such as boxes of books. The employee is directly responsible for safety, well-being, or work output of other people.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material, and the ability to adjust focus.

Upon recommendation for employment, Section 1230g, as amended, of the Revised School Code requires all school employees to be electronically finger printed for the purpose of undergoing a criminal history background check. The fingerprinting is conducted by a third party and is at the expense of the applicant. Cost for fingerprinting is approximately $70.00.
