Job Description

Turner & Townsendย are seekingย an experiencedย Director-Project Controlsย to join ourย team and lead the delivery of a multi-billion dollar pharmaceutical project. The ideal candidate has a provenย track recordย of successful client deliveryย and managing project control teams. This individual willย leadย project controls services for major client accounts and will help with wider business initiativesย asย needed.

Relocation to Huntsville, Alabama will be provided and is required of the successful candidate.

Responsibilities:ย 

  • Responsible forย establishingย and executing the high-level strategic direction of project controls including cost management, riskย management,ย and schedule management.ย ย 
  • Responsible forย the projectย budget approval process.ย ย 
  • Leads risk workshops with the project team toย identifyย risks,ย establishย likelihood/severity, mitigationย actionsย and Owners.ย ย 
  • Take the lead for project controls deliverables that require cross-functional input.ย ย 
  • Motivate the team by providing clear direction and goals.ย ย 
  • Assistย with weekly team meetings to discuss progress on initiatives and to drive performance.ย ย 
  • Lead the development and production of regular reporting.ย ย 
  • Prepares documentation for project gateway and approval processes.ย 
  • Develop overall guidelines for project level chartering and partnering.ย 
  • Review the Project Masterย Schedule forย sequencing, interfaceย milestones,ย and critical path elements (developed by others).ย 
  • Develop and recommend the project budget, cashย flowย and financial plan.ย 
  • Oversee and lead the risk management process for the project.ย 
  • Develop the work plan that forms the Project Execution Plan (PEP) for the project.ย 
  • Review,ย critiqueย andย submitย for approval the Project implementation plans as developed by the project supporting PMCM teams.ย 
  • Manage Project Estimating and life cycle (total cost of ownership) asset costing, including contingencyย methodologyย andย estimateย evolution through the project lifecycle.ย 
  • Develop and submit for approval change management and impact mitigation strategies throughout the life of the project.ย This includes, but is not limited to scope, cost, schedule control, and cost reduction initiatives.ย 
  • Develop the set of controls to assure team performance against the Project baseline metrics.ย 
  • Develop protocols and guidelines for Diversity Compliance,ย Monitoring,ย and Reporting.ย 
  • Establish the metrics and basis for progress reporting against the Project, Projects, and Contracts. Reporting shall include Performance Measurement, Forecasting, Trending, Issues, Actions,ย Progress,ย and Overall Status.ย 
  • Develop project guidelines and protocols for cost reduction initiatives. Review project level cost reduction recommendations.ย 
  • Review project level diversity recommendations.ย 
  • Review construction progress and approve recovery plans.ย 
  • Review the claims resolutions recommendations.ย 
  • Collaborate withย appropriate internalย and external stakeholders to achieve consent.ย 
  • Establishes ongoing risk process and coordinates regular Monte Carlo analyses.ย 
  • Project intake: Consider expansion of deliverables to ensure more robust business cases/estimates/schedules are developed.ย 
  • Consider the development of an end-to-end process that captures the project controls information from intake through to closeout. Including incorporating a feedback loop for intake/cost/scheduling closeout information.ย 
  • Consider the integration of intake/cost/scheduling reporting to provideย a holistic approachย to project controls.ย 
  • Leads the Project Controls Team andย ensuresdeliverables with quality control and assurance.ย 
  • SOX control responsibilities may be part of this role, which are to be adhered to where applicable.ย 
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, cost management, quantity surveying,ย engineeringย or field related to construction.ย 
  • Graduate degree in quantity surveying, cost management, construction management, or engineering is preferred.ย 
  • 12+ years of relevant projectย controlsย experience.ย 
  • 2+ years managing high performingย project controlย teams in a consulting environment.ย 
  • Knowledge of multiple contract delivery methods and the merits of each.ย 
  • Displaysย track recordย of proven success with schedules, cost control, estimating andย risk management.ย 
  • Proven andย demonstratedย experience in implementing and managing a project controls system, including financial and scheduling controls, for a major capital project.ย 
  • Experience inย establishingย and monitoring project baselines and performance metrics.ย 
  • Proficiencyย in project management software (e.g., Primavera P6, Microsoft Project) and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.ย 
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex project data and provide meaningful insights and recommendations.ย 
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements, industry standards, and compliance frameworks relevant to the project domain.ย 
  • Demonstratesย leadership skills and the ability to influence and motivate project teams towards achieving project controlย objectives.ย 
  • Demonstrates excellent presentation, verbal, written, organizational and communication skillsย
