Job description

Position Description: We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Business Manager to oversee the daily operations and strategic growth of our company, which specializes in commercial HVAC, refrigeration, and commercial cooking equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in business management, operations, and team leadership to support our growing branches. This position is pivotal to the financial and operational performance of respective business units and will report directly to the Atlanta-based General Managers of HVAC, Refrigeration, Hot-side and the Trades.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead business unit resource planning and allocation in close coordination with General Managers, Sales, Customer Advocacy, and Human Resources.
• Oversee the quote approval process, managing the quote response email box, approving/declining quotes, and working with Procurement and Materials Management to accelerate T&M quote closing rates.
• Drive revenue generation by optimizing scheduling and resource management, balancing workload across PMs, parts jobs, and high NTE work orders.
• Ensure efficient execution of invoices, and manage service work order and invoice escalations.
• Handle payroll activities for the business unit with precision and timeliness.
• Oversee preventive maintenance (PM) work order generation, advance scheduling, and yearly PM level-setting to ensure optimal performance.
• Direct advance scheduling for high NTE (Not-to-Exceed) work orders and coordinate with field teams to maintain utilization and efficiency.
• Serve as a point of contact for Top 20 Clients, leading client meetings, work order updates, and high-value account management strategies.
• Regularly analyze operations (field and office) and implement process improvements to boost overall productivity.
• Maintain and report on balanced scorecard performance metrics, setting and reviewing KPIs and Key Performance Measures with General Managers.
• Lead cross-functional teams to ensure service delivery chain efficiency.
• Strategize and implement short- and long-term resource planning initiatives.
• Manage all support functions, logistics, and operational needs for respective business units to ensure high field technician utilization rates and overall efficiency.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (MBA a plus).
• 5–7+ years of management experience in commercial HVAC, refrigeration, or similar technical services.
• Demonstrated financial acumen, including budgeting, cost analysis, and reporting.
• Strong leadership, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Proficient in business tools such as QuickBooks, Microsoft Office Suite, and other service management software.
• Proven ability to perform and lead in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.
• Prior experience in business-to-business services or commercial HVAC/refrigeration industry is highly desirable.
