Elite Head Swimming Coach & Program Director
Location: Chatham, Virginia
Position: Full-Time
Reports To: Athletic Director
Build a Championship Program
Hargrave Military Academy is seeking an energetic, relationship-driven Elite Head Swimming Coach & Program Director to build one of the premier boarding school swimming programs in the country.
This is an outstanding opportunity for a coach who is passionate about recruiting, developing student-athletes, and building a nationally respected program. The successful candidate will lead all aspects of the Hargrave swimming program while mentoring young men in a college preparatory military environment centered on academics, leadership, character, and athletic excellence.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Build and lead a highly competitive swimming program.
  • Develop and implement a year-round recruiting plan to attract talented student-athletes from across the country and internationally.
  • Coach and develop swimmers to reach their highest athletic and academic potential.
  • Plan and conduct daily practices that challenge athletes of varying ability levels.
  • Prepare athletes for success at the collegiate level.
  • Develop a positive, disciplined, and competitive team culture.
  • Schedule competitions and coordinate team travel.
  • Work collaboratively with Admissions to recruit and enroll prospective cadet-athletes.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, faculty, athletic trainers, and school leadership.
  • Supervise and mentor assistant and developmental coaches.
  • Manage the program budget, equipment, and uniforms.
  • Represent Hargrave Military Academy with professionalism and integrity on and off campus.
  • Support the Academy's mission of developing leaders of character.
Qualifications
Ideal candidates will possess:
  • Proven success as a head or assistant swimming coach.
  • Demonstrated success recruiting student-athletes.
  • Experience developing athletes for collegiate swimming.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • A passion for mentoring young men both in and out of the pool.
  • Knowledge of USA Swimming and high school swimming competition.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends during the season.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
  • USA Swimming coaching certification.
  • ASCA certification.
  • Experience coaching multiple age groups or high-performance athletes.
  • Experience working in a boarding school, college, academy, or similar educational environment.
