Grading Laborer
Build the Foundation for Projects That Shape South Carolina
CR Jackson is seeking hardworking, dependable Grading Laborers to join our construction team. This position plays a vital role in supporting grading and site development operations on highway, utility, commercial, and residential construction projects throughout South Carolina.

Position Summary
The Grading Laborer supports grading and earthwork crews by assisting with site preparation, utility installation, erosion control, drainage work, grade checking, and general construction activities. Team members work alongside equipment operators, foremen, and supervisors to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and according to project specifications.
This position requires a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and the ability to perform physical work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist grading crews with site preparation and earthmoving operations.
  • Perform hand grading, shovel work, and cleanup activities.
  • Install and maintain erosion control measures.
  • Assist with drainage and utility installation projects.
  • Set up and maintain construction work zones.
  • Help direct equipment operators during excavation and grading activities.
  • Load, unload, and organize construction materials and tools.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors and foremen.
Qualifications
Required
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Dependable attendance and strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and follow directions.
  • Valid driver's license required with a good driving history.
Preferred
  • Previous construction, grading, utility, landscaping, or heavy equipment experience.
  • Experience working around heavy construction equipment.
  • Knowledge of construction tools and materials.
  • OSHA 10 certification or other safety training.
