Grad Engineer information

What is a grad engineer?

Grad Engineers, short for Graduate Engineers, are individuals who have recently completed an engineering degree and are beginning their professional careers. They typically join organizations in entry-level engineering roles, where they receive training, mentorship, and hands-on experience in their chosen field. Grad Engineers are expected to apply the theoretical knowledge gained during their studies to real-world projects, contributing to problem-solving and innovation within their teams. Over time, they develop technical and professional skills that prepare them for more senior engineering positions.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a grad engineer?

To thrive as a Graduate Engineer, you need a strong foundation in engineering principles, analytical problem-solving, and a relevant engineering degree. Familiarity with industry-standard software such as AutoCAD, MATLAB, or SolidWorks, and sometimes certifications like EIT (Engineer in Training), are commonly expected. Effective communication, teamwork, and adaptability help you excel in collaborative and fast-paced project environments. These skills ensure you can contribute effectively to technical projects, learn quickly, and support organizational goals as you develop professionally.

What opportunities for mentorship and professional development are typically available to grad engineers?

Grad Engineers often benefit from structured mentorship programs and regular training sessions, designed to help them transition smoothly into the professional engineering environment. They typically work closely with senior engineers and project managers, gaining hands-on experience and feedback on their work. Many organizations also encourage Grad Engineers to attend workshops, pursue certifications, and participate in cross-functional projects, fostering both technical skills and professional growth. These opportunities support career advancement and help Grad Engineers build a strong foundation for future leadership roles.

Software Engineer - Early Career

Uniswap Labs

New York, NY • On-site

Posted 9 days ago

Job description

Uniswap Labs is a core contributor to the Uniswap Protocol, the world's largest DEX, with over $4 trillion in volume across 17 chains. It builds products that help millions access the protocol, including the Uniswap Web App, Wallet, and Trading API. Uniswap Labs is also the primary technical provider for Unichain, a DeFi-native Ethereum Layer 2 built to be the home for liquidity across chains.
When you join Uniswap, you become part of a team that's reshaping the way value flows on the internet.
We're hiring our first new-grad engineering cohort. Almost nobody in crypto hires and develops early-career engineers in a structured way - we're going to. You'll join one of our engineering pods, ship production code in your first weeks, and be paired with a dedicated senior engineer who owns your growth. We shape engineers full-stack from the start: you won't be boxed into one layer of the stack, and where you land long-term will follow your strengths.
What you'll do
  • Ship well-tested production code used by millions - across web, backend services, infrastructure, and (if it's your thing) smart contracts
  • Work side-by-side with your assigned senior mentor and pod: pairing, code review, and real ownership rather than a training track
  • Move across parts of the stack as you grow - we care that you learn to build complete products, not just components
  • Work in person with the team at our NYC headquarters, 5 days a week

What we look for
  • A degree in Computer Science or a related field completed (or completing) between December 2024 and September 2026
  • Evidence that you build: internships, shipped side projects, open-source contributions, hackathon results - include links (GitHub, live apps, write-ups)
  • Strong CS fundamentals and the ability to pick up new languages and systems quickly
  • Genuine excitement about crypto and DeFi - no prior crypto experience required
  • Able to work from our New York office 5 days per week

Nice to have
  • Anything you've built on or around crypto - a contract, a bot, a dashboard, a hackathon project
  • Depth in whatever tools you build with - we don't screen for a specific language or framework, and we'd rather see one thing you've built deeply than a keyword list
  • Competitive programming, CTFs, research, or open-source work
  • Love for unicorns :)

Minimum full-time salary of $138,400-$198,000. Disclosure in accordance with New York City's Pay Transparency Law. Full Time employees at Uniswap Labs are also eligible for other compensation elements, including tokens, and benefits, dependent on the position type.
Uniswap Labs' Full-Time employee benefits include company-paid medical, dental, & vision for you and your dependents, wellness offerings including a partnership with Equinox Fitness Clubs, 401(k) with 4% employer contribution, annual $1,500 education stipend, unlimited and encouraged time off, up to 16 weeks paid parental leave, home office setup stipend for remote employees and daily lunches at NY headquarters (all benefits are subject to applicable taxes and based on eligibility).
Uniswap Labs is committed to diversity in our workforce and is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer (EEO). We provide employment opportunities without regard to age, race, color, ancestry, national origin, religion, disability (including gender dysphoria and similar gender-related conditions), sex, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation (including actual or perceived heterosexuality, homosexuality, bisexuality, and asexuality), veteran status, military status, domestic violence victim status, reproductive health decision making or any other protected category.
