Protech Automotive Solutions is looking for an Automotive Installation Technician to join our growing team. This is a hands-on opportunity for someone with an automotive, mechanical, electrical, fleet, or installation background who enjoys working with vehicles and learning new technology.
You'll install and support GPS, telematics, cameras, sensors, and other fleet technology across cars, trucks, tractors, and trailers. If you're an experienced mechanic who wants to expand into fleet technology, your skills can transfer directly into this role.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
• Install and troubleshoot GPS, ELDs, telematics, dash cameras, sensors, and tracking equipment.
• Work on light-duty vehicles, commercial trucks, tractors, trailers, and other fleet assets.
• Perform basic 12V/24V wiring, including power, ignition, ground, diagnostic, and trailer connections.
• Route and secure wiring for clean, professional installations.
• Test GPS, cellular connectivity, cameras, sensors, and system functionality.
• Diagnose electrical, connectivity, and installation issues.
• Document completed installations with photos, device information, and service notes.
• Travel to customer and fleet locations for mobile installations and projects.
• Maintain a strong focus on safety, quality, and right-first-time installations.
MECHANIC EXPERIENCE? WE WANT YOU.
Your automotive experience can be a strong foundation for this role.
Candidates with backgrounds in:
• Automotive repair
• Automotive electrical
• Fleet maintenance
• Diesel/heavy-duty mechanics
• Vehicle upfitting
• Mobile service
• ADAS/diagnostics
• Telematics or vehicle electronics are encouraged to apply.
You don't need to know every telematics system on day one. We're looking for strong technical aptitude, hands-on experience, and the ability to learn.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
• Hands-on automotive, electrical, mechanical, or installation experience.
• Knowledge of vehicle electrical systems and basic diagnostics.
• Comfortable using hand and power tools.
• Ability to read basic wiring diagrams and technical instructions.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Comfortable working independently in a mobile environment.
• Strong attention to detail and pride in quality work.
• Professional communication and customer service skills.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in, around, and underneath vehicles and trailers.
• 21+ years of age
NICE TO HAVE
• Telematics/GPS/ELD installation experience.
• Experience with Samsara, Geotab, Motive, Verizon Connect, Lytx, or similar platforms.
• 12V/24V electrical experience.
• Commercial truck or trailer experience.
• ADAS scanning or calibration experience.
• ASE, I-CAR, or related certifications.
