Job description

Job Summary:
The KVP Energy Services Fleet GPS Installer/Shop Hand is responsible for installing, configuring, and testing GPS tracking devices, dash cameras, and other vehicle monitoring equipment on a variety of vehicles. This role involves performing precise electrical and hardware installations, running cables cleanly, ensuring proper system functionality, and providing basic technical support to clients. The technician must be skilled in troubleshooting, understanding vehicle electrical systems, and maintaining a professional level of customer service while working independently or as part of a team. This position may require overtime and on-call hours.
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Install and configure GPS tracking systems, dash cams, and telematics equipment in vehicles.
  • Run wiring and mount hardware safely and neatly according to manufacturer specifications.
  • Test equipment for accuracy, connectivity, and functionality.
  • Diagnose and repair installation or connectivity issues.
  • Maintain detailed installation records and report completed work.
  • Communicating effectively with employees
  • Assist the shop in moving vehicles as needed.
  • Assist mechanics with light mechanical repairs at the direction of the Maintenance Manager or mechanic.
  • Assist in keeping the maintenance yard in order and clean.
  • Washing of vehicles, trucks, and equipment using a power washer.
  • Assist in keeping the shop clean and organized.
  • Must follow all safety and company policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by direct supervisor in a professional and efficient manner.

Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Experience with GPS or dash camera systems preferred.
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams and follow installation procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and critical thinking skills.
  • Knowledge of essential tools and shop equipment.

Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1+ years of direct experience GPS tracking systems, dash cams, and telematics equipment in vehicles.
  • Must be able to pass background check and drug test.
  • Must have a clean Motor Vehicle Record.

Special Requirements:
  • Ability to travel approximately 50% of the time required.
  • Ability to work in adverse weather conditions.
  • Must be able to lift/carry 50 lbs.
