Job description

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Contract Fleet Vehicle Electronics Installer to install dash cameras, telematics gateways, and related hardware in fleet vehicles. Installations will take place in a variety of vehicles including sedans, pickup trucks, vans, and large commercial trucks.

This role is contract-based (1099) and ideal for technicians with experience similar to car audio or vehicle electronics installers who are skilled at routing and concealing wiring while maintaining a clean, professional installation. Experience installing Samsara hardware or other fleet telematics equipment is a strong plus.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install dash cameras, telematics gateways, and related fleet hardware in a range of vehicle types.
  • Perform clean wire routing and concealment through dashboards, trim panels, and headliners.
  • Connect hardware to vehicle power sources, fuse panels, and ignition circuits.
  • Mount and secure devices according to manufacturer and project installation standards.
  • Perform basic device setup, testing, and troubleshooting to ensure proper functionality.
  • Maintain documentation and installation records for completed vehicles.
  • Follow installation guidelines to ensure no damage to vehicle interiors or electrical systems.
  • Communicate with project coordinators regarding installation progress and completion status.

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience installing vehicle electronics such as car stereos, alarms, GPS trackers, telematics devices, or dash cameras.
  • Strong understanding of 12V automotive electrical systems.
  • Experience removing and reinstalling vehicle trim panels and interior components.
  • Ability to professionally route and conceal wiring inside vehicles.
  • Familiarity with fuse taps, grounding techniques, and ignition-based power connections.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to work on multiple vehicle types.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience installing Samsara telematics hardware.
  • Experience working with fleet telematics or GPS tracking systems.
  • Experience installing hardware in commercial or fleet vehicles.
  • Prior work as a car audio installer, vehicle electronics technician, or automotive accessory installer.

  • Installations may involve multiple vehicles at a single location.
  • Compensation is typically per installation or hourly depending on project scope.
