We are looking for a Survey Party Chief who will plan and evaluate proposed field survey projects, manage the field survey teams, prepare, process and coordinate the required field design survey work and construction staking survey work and other surveys and daily survey logs as part of public and private commercial, residential and industrial development projects based on client's intent/vision, budget, timeline, jurisdictional requirements and community needs and concerns. The ideal candidate will perform complex surveying calculations using engineering calculator, laptop computer, personal computer, and graphics software, such as AutoCAD; analyze raw data for mathematical closure and geometric accuracy; provide survey information for Geographic Information System (GIS); and prepare finished grade sheets, topographic maps, records of survey, ALTA Surveys, corner staking, etc., and other survey reports.

You may be traveling between Indiana and Kentucky.

A day in the life of a Survey Party Chief

You will act as party chief for a field survey crew engaged in making plans and/or geodetic surveys for construction, topographic, right-of-way, and control survey projects; participate in pre-survey planning meetings with project managers, resident engineers, and contractor representatives; assign and monitor work, and provide input for evaluation of members of the field survey crew. You will be the senior field surveyor in survey and mapping methods, use of equipment, and field safety procedures. You will gather field survey data through use of conventional and Global Positioning System (GPS) methods; set up, adjust, and operate surveying equipment, including electronic total station, data collector, and GPS equipment, in order to measure distances, elevations, and angles; prepare field notes and drawings; perform field surveying for roadway, bridges, and flood control projects, including installing surveying construction stakes, tying out existing intersection ties, and locating or establishing vertical and horizontal control, right of way, monuments, corners, boundaries, and property lines.
