Job Summary:
Sandia National Laboratories is the nation’s premier science and engineering lab for national security and technology innovation, with teams of specialists focused on cutting-edge work. The Computing Infrastructure Engineer will perform the full lifecycle management of multi-user information systems including servers, storage, and virtual and cloud infrastructures, ensuring the integrity and security of systems while coordinating with various stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
• Maintain the integrity of servers and systems to meet established requirements for service levels, disaster recovery, business continuity, and security.
• Coordinate and interface with customers, suppliers, and domain experts such as networking, software, and desktop personnel.
• Apply systematic, disciplined, and quantizable engineering and life cycle management techniques and processes to deliver integrated information systems hardware for mission-enabled or direct mission deployment and production.
• Perform hardware systems analysis, monitoring, troubleshooting, repair and recovery, disaster recovery, software installations, systems OS and software applications upgrades and security patches, vulnerability management, performance tuning, hardware upgrades and resource optimization, maintenance of user accounts, and training users.
• Performs technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Bachelor degree in relevant field, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience (AS + 4 or no degree + 8)
• Active ISC2 Certified in Cybersecurity or CompTIA Security + Certificate
• Systems administration experience -Windows & Linux administration at scale (e.g., Windows Server/AD/GPO; RHEL)
• Scripting/automation: PowerShell and/or Python (minimum: ability to automate repeatable ops tasks)
• Active DOE Q-level (or DoD TS equivalent) security clearance, and the ability to obtain and maintain SCI access which may require a polygraph
Preferred:
• Experience in HAL, SFN, DOE-IN accredited Networks and OGA SCI Networks
• Enterprise identity: Active Directory, DNS/DHCP, PKI/cert management basics
• Wide-ranging knowledge of computing hardware peripherals and their allowed use on Top Secret Computer systems
• Ability to work with other Departments, Labs and Govt agencies to meet mission goals.
• Experience in NIAP protection profiles and the products certified under them
• Experience working with VOIP systems on SCI networks
• STIG / hardening compliance: DISA STIGs, SCAP, config baselines, audit artifacts
• Vulnerability management workflow beyond tooling (POAM, remediation validation, patch governance)
• Experience writing Policy and Procedure documents.
• Proven leadership experience in environments working with peers as well as subordinates.
• IT Leadership experience working with teams and individuals, demonstrated aptitude to work across organizations with partners and teams to obtain direction and solution.
• Knowledge of Sandia FIE Operations
• Experience using Cyber security tools such as Tenable Security Center
• Strong working relationship with DOE oversight (DOE/IN, Sandia Field Office, NNSA, Office of Enforcement)
• Experience installing and using hypervisors such as ESXi
• Understanding ICD705 physical security principles
• Familiarity with DOE Order 470.4 (IOSC attachment) & 470.6 (Technical Security Program)
• Experience responding to investigative and audit compliance requests.
• Experience providing training regarding programs and systems in which you are considered an SME
• Experience with Emergency Management
• ITIL Foundations (helps with SLA/service delivery language)
• KCS Foundations
