Job description

Koniag IT Systems, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking a Technical Writer with a TS/SCI clearance to support KITS and our government customer in Falls Church, VA.

Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include, but are not limited to:
  • Develop, edit, and maintain technical documentation and deliverables in support of CDAO's Sensitive Decision Support (SDS) mission, including reports, trip summaries, program protection plans, security classification guides, and strategic disclosure reports.
  • Translate complex technical, intelligence, and programmatic information into clear, concise, and accessible documentation for senior leadership, technical stakeholders, and operational users.
  • Support the creation of Weekly Activity Reports (WARs) and Monthly Status Reports (MSRs), ensuring accuracy, consistency, and alignment with contractual requirements.
  • Draft and edit formal assessments, quarterly implementation plans, annual reports, and technical annexes across the Inform, Protect, Affect, and Modernize lines of effort.
  • Apply DoD writing standards, formatting, and classification markings in accordance with DoDI 5230.24, DoDD 5105.89, the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM), and DoD 8140 cybersecurity workforce requirements where applicable to documentation practices.
  • Collaborate with program managers, researchers, analysts, and government representatives to capture technical content and ensure alignment with mission objectives.
  • Leverage Microsoft O365 (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint, Power BI, Power Automate) to produce, edit, and visualize documentation supporting technical analysis and decision making.
  • Maintain awareness of ethical, privacy, and security requirements when preparing, handling, or disseminating documentation that may include sensitive or classified information.

Work Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Technical Writing, or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • 3+ years of experience in technical writing, editing, or documentation management within a government, defense, or IT/engineering environment.

Knowledge & Skills:
  • Strong understanding of DoD documentation practices, classification marking, and controlled/unclassified material handling.
  • Familiarity with artificial intelligence, autonomy, and decision-support systems is highly desirable.
  • Ability to synthesize all-source intelligence research, cyber vulnerability reports, and counterintelligence analysis into user-ready documentation.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft O365 Suite, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and collaboration tools. Experience with Power BI or visualization platforms preferred.
  • Excellent grammar, attention to detail, and ability to tailor technical language for different audiences (executive, technical, operational).

Abilities:
  • Ability to manage multiple deliverables with strict deadlines in a classified, fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary cross-functional team.
  • Capacity to operate with minimal supervision while adhering to government style guides, security policies, and program requirements.

Security Clearance requirement:
  • Must possess an active TS-SCI.
