Overview
AMERICAN SYSTEMS is an employee-owned federal government contractor supporting national priority programs through our strategic solutions in the areas of Information Technology, Test & Evaluation, Program Mission Support, Engineering & Analysis, and Training.
Responsibilities
As The Security Specialist - Construction Surveillance Technician you will:
  • Protect sensitive environments during construction, renovation, maintenance, and related facility activities.
  • Observe and document work that could affect secure spaces, verify compliance with approved plans and protective procedures, and identify anomalies or unauthorized conditions requiring immediate attention.
  • Coordinate with Government security representatives, facility personnel, contractors, and technical specialists to control access, materials, tools, and work practices within designated areas.
  • Through continuous surveillance, accurate reporting, and prompt escalation, the Security Specialist Construction Surveillance Technician helps preserve the integrity and accreditation conditions of classified or compartmented facilities while physical work is performed.
    Essential Responsibilities:
  • Conduct construction surveillance during building, renovation, maintenance, and modification activities affecting sensitive spaces.
  • Verify that personnel, materials, tools, equipment, and work practices comply with approved security procedures.
  • Monitor access to controlled construction areas and identify unauthorized activity, substitutions, anomalies, or concealed conditions.
  • Document daily observations, incidents, discrepancies, work progress, and required follow-up actions.
  • Coordinate surveillance activities with Government security representatives, facility personnel, contractors, and technical specialists.
  • Report suspected security concerns immediately and preserve relevant information for authorized review and resolution.
  • Support inspections and verification activities needed to maintain or restore secure-facility accreditation conditions.
  • Confirm completion of approved corrective actions before affected work areas or systems are accepted for secure use.

Qualifications
  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant discipline and 10 years of directly relevant experience; or a bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline plus 14 years of directly related work experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Intelligence Community Directive (ICD) 705.
  • Experience must include support to Special Access Program and Sensitive Compartmented Information environments
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate effectively across Government, contractor, and external stakeholders; prepare briefings, reports, standard operating procedures, and official correspondence; and lead a team in fast paced classified environments.
  • CLEARANCE: Active Top Secret clearance; must be able to meet any applicable Special Access Program eligibility requirements identified by the Government.

Pay Transparency Statement
AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is USD $132,500.00/Yr. - USD $221,300.00/Yr. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law. AMERICAN SYSTEMS provides for the welfare of its employees and their dependents through a comprehensive benefits program by offering healthcare benefits, paid leave, retirement plans, insurance programs, and education and training assistance.
