Job description

Your Impact

As Axon's Senior Client Engineer, you will be a senior technical owner within the IT Engineering team, helping shape how Axon's global workforce connects, collaborates, and stays secure. You will own and advance Axon's Google Enterprise ecosystem, lead strategic platform initiatives, and drive automation improvements that make IT operations more scalable, reliable, and efficient.

This is a hands-on individual contributor role for an experienced engineer who can lead complex technical workstreams, operate independently, and partner cross-functionally across IT, Security, Legal, People Operations, and business teams.

What You'll Do

  • Serve as the technical owner and lead administrator for Axon's Google Workspace / Google Enterprise environment.
  • Lead strategic Google Workspace initiatives, including tool integrations, new feature rollouts, workforce enablement efforts, M&A integrations, and cross-functional tooling projects.
  • Manage Google Workspace administration across Drive governance, Gmail administration, DLP policy, domain migrations, Vault, retention policies, litigation holds, eDiscovery, Context-Aware Access, and audit log monitoring.
  • Act as the internal subject matter expert for Google Workspace integrations, including Okta SSO, Slack, and third-party SaaS connectors.
  • Own escalated support for complex Google Workspace, collaboration, identity, endpoint, and SaaS platform issues.
  • Identify opportunities to improve IT Engineering systems and processes through automation, workflow design, and operational improvements.
  • Architect, build, and maintain automation using API integrations, Okta Workflows, ServiceNow, Slack, scripting, and low-code platforms.
  • Maintain platform health, improve operational reliability, and support KTLO activities across collaboration, identity, endpoint, and IT Engineering systems based on team needs and technical expertise.
  • Document technical decisions, process changes, and operational runbooks to support knowledge sharing and long-term maintainability.
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure Axon's collaboration and endpoint platforms meet business, security, compliance, and employee experience needs.
What You Bring
  • 4-6 years of administrative experience with Google Enterprise / Google Workspace and adjacent enterprise-grade SaaS collaboration tools.
  • Proven experience managing Google Workspace at scale, including Drive governance, Gmail administration, DLP policies, domain migrations, and Vault.
  • Strong understanding of identity and access management concepts, including SAML, OAuth, SCIM, RBAC, and user provisioning.
  • Hands-on experience with Okta, including SSO integrations and workflow automation.
  • Experience managing endpoint fleets through Jamf, Intune, Tanium, or equivalent MDM / endpoint management platforms.
  • Proficiency with PowerShell, Bash, Python, or similar scripting languages for task automation.
  • Strong understanding of REST API integrations and system-to-system automation.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical workstreams from discovery through implementation with minimal oversight.
  • Clear, direct communication style with the ability to document decisions, explain tradeoffs, and drive alignment across cross-functional stakeholders.
Work Location

This role is based out of our Boston office and follows a hybrid schedule. We rely on in-person collaboration and ask that team members work onsite Tuesdays through Fridays, with the flexibility to work remotely on Mondays, unless there is an approved workplace accommodation.
