Landscape Construction Manager & Project Estimator Equinox Landscape | Sonoma & Marin Counties, CA $85,000–$105,000 DOE | Monday–Thursday, 10-hour days

Equinox Landscape is an award-winning, full-service landscape firm with over 34 years of experience designing, building, and maintaining ecological landscapes across Sonoma and Marin counties. Our projects range from patios, paths, and pergolas to greywater systems, rain gardens, organic plantings, and low-voltage lighting. Our work has been featured in Garden Design, Pacific Horticulture, and the Sunset Western Garden Book, and in 2013 the California Landscape Contractors Association recognized us for the most sustainable garden in the state.

The Role

We are hiring a Landscape Construction Manager & Project Estimator to lead multiple projects simultaneously from estimate through completion. We're looking for a self-starter who is motivated, organized, and punctual. Someone who can work independently and thrives as a team player. You will communicate across all levels of the company and bring deep knowledge of estimating, cost analysis, time management, and quality control. You will also supervise and train staff, helping build the next generation of skilled ecological landscapers. Above all, you are someone who takes pride in the authentic nature of our craft and holds quality and attention to detail as non-negotiables.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and estimate two or more landscape construction projects at a time, ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery
  • Provide expert-level oversight across all construction phases: hardscape (walls, patios, steps), carpentry (pergolas, decks, fences), soil health, plant care, drainage, irrigation, and lighting
  • Supervise, train, and mentor crew members; share knowledge across all trades and ecological practices
  • Interpret designs and lay out plans in the field for foremen; proactively resolve field and equipment issues
  • Prepare accurate project estimates; manage all change orders and secure client approval before commencing additional work
  • Facilitate regular weekly meetings with clients and ownership; maintain clear, professional communication throughout each project
  • Program irrigation controllers and Luxor low-voltage lighting transformers
  • Lead job site safety meetings and ensure full OSHA compliance
  • Stay organized using Google Workspace, Dropbox, and related project management tools
  • Champion permaculture and ecological principles on every project

Qualifications

  • Expert knowledge of hardscape, carpentry, drainage, irrigation, and lighting
  • Prior estimating experience in landscape construction, including cost analysis and quality control
  • Ability to interpret and lay out landscape designs in the field
  • Proven ability to supervise and train field staff
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects independently
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; some Spanish a plus
  • Proficiency with irrigation controllers and Luxor transformers
  • Permaculture or sustainable landscaping background preferred
  • Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Positive, solutions-focused attitude

Experience Required

  • 5+ years as a Project Manager
  • 7+ years in landscaping
  • 7+ years in construction

Preferred Certifications

  • Certificate in Project Management
  • Landscape Industry Certified Technician (LICT)
  • Certified Landscape Technician Irrigation (CLT-I)
  • Permaculture Design Certificate (PDC)

Requirements

  • Valid driver's license with a clean DMV record (no DUIs)
  • Reliable personal transportation
  • At least three professional references
  • Ability to work long hours outdoors in all weather conditions

Compensation & Benefits

  • $85,000–$105,000 annually, depending on experience, plus sales commissions
  • Four-day work week (Monday–Thursday, 10-hour shifts)  Friday through Sunday off!
