Job description

Description

Join our team and what we'll accomplish together

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Project Manager to play a pivotal role in the data & reporting for our national Fibre build.   The National Fibre Team is driving the future of Canadian connectivity. We're expanding TELUS' national footprint with a multi-billion dollar investment in crucial infrastructure, bringing our world-leading networks to new customers in Ontario and Quebec while deepening our roots in Alberta and B.C.

Our Fibre Process & Reporting team drives operational programs and data and reporting for our Fibre build.   In this role, you will collaborate across business units, with key internal and external stakeholders to execute on data & reporting initiatives with high complexity and business impact.  Your expertise will help us transform data into a comprehensive reporting strategy, enabling our leaders to make informed strategic decisions.

What you'll do

You will manage data and reporting projects that power strategic decision-making across the Fibre build and Go-To-Market (GTM) initiatives nationally. You'll be the architect who brings fragmented data together into cohesive, actionable insights.

  • Integrate & Consolidate: Connect the dots across disparate data sources-pulling from multiple systems, platforms, and formats-to create unified views in GCP and other platforms that tell the complete story.
  • Build & Code: Roll up your sleeves to write SQL queries, develop data pipelines, create automated reporting solutions, and build integrations.
  • Visualize & Report: Design and build compelling dashboards in Looker Studio Pro and Tableau that transform raw data into insights senior leaders rely on to guide strategic decisions.
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Partner with stakeholders and developers to articulate technical requirements and review solutions. Work with cross-functional teams (GTM, Marketing, CTO, Finance) to understand data needs and deliver business outcomes.
  • Manage & Deliver: Lead data projects from scoping to delivery, managing timelines, stakeholders, and technical requirements while ensuring data quality and accuracy.

Advanced knowledge of English is required because you will most of the time interact in English with external parties (clients, suppliers, candidates, external partners, etc.); interact in English with internal parties (colleagues, internal partners, stakeholders, etc.); and work with IT tools whose interface is only accessible in English as part of this position's main responsibilities given its national scope.

Qualifications

What you bring

  • Hands-On Technical Skills: Proficiency in SQL, data visualization, and light business coding. Comfortable in Google Cloud Platform (BigQuery, Cloud Storage), with knowledge of Github for version control and familiarity with Pulumi for infrastructure management.
  • Data Integration Expert: You excel at connecting disparate data sources from CRM systems, databases, spreadsheets, and APIs. You see patterns where others see chaos and design elegant solutions.
  • Visualization Storyteller: You craft data narratives using Looker Studio Pro, Tableau, or Power BI, translating complex datasets into clear, compelling visuals that drive action.
  • Technical & Business Communicator:  You translate technical concepts for business audiences and articulate business requirements in technical terms for developers. You bridge the gap between both worlds.
  • Project Management Pro: You've successfully led technical projects with multiple stakeholders, managing scope, timelines, and deliverables while balancing competing priorities.
  • Quality Champion: You're meticulous about data accuracy and integrity. You build validation checks, document processes, and ensure stakeholders can trust your insights.
  • Self-Starter & Learner: You're resourceful and curious-comfortable learning new tools and adapting to evolving technical requirements.

Great-to-haves

  • 3+ years' work experience managing projects or leading cross functional teams
  • Knowledge of telecommunications/fibre build metrics and KPIs
  • Familiarity with data governance and documentation best practices
  • Background in business intelligence or analytics roles
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum project management methodologies
  • Experience with SQL or other scripting languages for data manipulation
  • Familiarity with API development and integration patterns
