Job description

Position Description:
 
San Bernardino Fatherhood (SB Fatherhood) is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Fatherhood Program Specialist to join our team. The Fatherhood Program Specialist supports fathers by guiding them in their fatherhood journey through mentorship, education, and resources.   Important activities include recruiting and retaining fathers in programs offered by SB Fatherhood; providing case management services; facilitating fatherhood curriculums in one-on-one and/or in group settings; and referring fathers and families to community resources.
 
Key Responsibilities
 
  • Facilitate workshops and groups: Lead educational sessions on topics like parenting skills, child development, and positive discipline using established curricula.
  • Provide case management: Offer one-on-one support to help fathers with case management needs and develop individual plans.
  • Connect to resources: Link fathers to a wide range of community resources, such as housing assistance, food support, employment services, and legal aid.
  • Engage with fathers: Actively recruit and engage fathers, including those who may be difficult to reach, to participate in the program.
  • Collaborate with other professionals: Work with other professionals, such as social workers, therapists, and family support specialists, to coordinate services for families.
  • Maintain records and reports: Keep accurate records of client progress and submit reports on client needs and program outcomes.
  • Plan events: Organize events to promote fatherhood initiatives and community engagement. 
 Educational and Skills/Experience Requirement: 
·         A Bachelor’s Degree in social work, psychology, counseling, health education, public health, or a related field preferred and 1 year of experience in community outreach and/or working with at risk fathers/families required.
 
·         Three (3) years of experience working with men in social/human services or fatherhood programming or three (3) years of experience in case management or counseling or providing direct services to fathers/families and knowledge of community resources preferred. Family health and well-being and child experience is desirable.

•           FBI fingerprints and background check clearance are required.
