Responsibilities

NV5 is seeking a highly skilled Survey Project Manager to join our Charlotte, NC team. If you are detailed-oriented, experienced in managing survey projects, delivering accurate and timely results, than this position may be the right fit for you. In this role, you will:

  • Lead all aspects of a surveying and geomatics group, overseeing both field crews and technical office staff engaged in public and private sector land improvement projects.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key personnel and officials from various organizations and companies.
  • Plan, organize, and supervise survey crews, technicians, and support staff to ensure efficient operations.
  • Administer contracts and manage projects, including interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating assignments to meet deadlines.
  • Develop and lead surveying projects involving unique or complex challenges, conducting research and proposing innovative solutions.
  • Prepare detailed proposals for potential surveying and geomatics projects.
  • Support monthly billing processes to ensure accurate and timely invoicing.
Qualifications
  • Licensed Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) in North Carolina.
  • Over 4 years of land surveying experience, including work with NCDOT and the City of Charlotte.
  • More than 3 years of progressive experience in surveying management, leading teams and overseeing complex projects.
  • 2+ years of hands‑on experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and MicroStation/OpenRoads Designer (ORD).
  • Proficient in survey computations and platting using Trimble Business Center, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and OpenRoads.
  • Field experience with Trimble and Leica survey equipment, including GPS and robotic total stations.
  • Skilled in survey data management using Trimble or Android‑based devices.
  • Strong self‑motivation and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Experienced with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Earth for mapping and documentation.
  • Thorough working knowledge of GPS technologies and their application in land surveying.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a valid driver’s license prior to employment.
  • Must pass a drug screen and background check, and maintain a satisfactory driving record in accordance with company MVR policy.
