What does a Google Creative do?

A Google Creative is responsible for developing innovative and engaging advertising concepts, campaigns, and content for Google's clients or internal marketing initiatives. This role involves collaborating with designers, copywriters, strategists, and other team members to bring creative ideas to life across various media platforms. Google Creatives often work within Google's in-house creative teams, such as Google Creative Lab, to produce impactful work that aligns with brand objectives and technological advancements. Their goal is to deliver memorable and effective experiences that resonate with audiences and support business goals.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Google Creative, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Google Creative, you need a strong background in design, digital marketing, and creative strategy, often supported by a relevant degree or equivalent experience. Proficiency in tools like Adobe Creative Suite, Google Ads, and data analytics platforms is typically required. Exceptional communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills help you stand out when conceptualizing and executing innovative campaigns. These abilities are crucial for delivering impactful, data-driven creative solutions that align with Google's brand and business objectives.

How does a Google Creative typically collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop effective campaigns?

As a Google Creative, you will frequently work alongside product managers, engineers, data analysts, and marketing specialists to bring innovative campaigns to life. Collaboration often involves brainstorming sessions, rapid prototyping, and ongoing feedback loops to ensure creative ideas are both technically feasible and aligned with business objectives. This multidisciplinary environment fosters creativity but also requires strong communication skills and adaptability, as priorities can shift quickly based on project needs and user feedback.

Job description

About McChrystal Group:
McChrystal Group is a leadership and management consulting firm that partners with executive teams to solve their most complex performance and coordination challenges. Founded in 2011 by General (Ret.) Stanley McChrystal, we help organizations operate with the speed, alignment, and cohesion required to succeed in dynamic environments.

Our work is rooted in the Team of Teams® framework - a leadership system developed from General McChrystal’s transformation of the Joint Special Operations Command. We believe that enduring performance depends not just on strategy, but on how effectively leaders, teams, and systems work together under pressure.

Role Overview:

We are looking for a talented Creative Associate to help elevate our brand across marketing, sales, digital, and executive communications. This role is ideal for an early-career designer who enjoys creating visually compelling experiences across multiple mediums from presentation decks and sales materials to websites, landing pages, social graphics, and campaign assets.

In partnership with the Digital Producer and working closely with the marketing team, you'll help transform ideas into polished visual communications that drive engagement and business results.

General Responsibilities:
In partnership with the Digital Producer, serve as an in-house creative studio for both internal stakeholders, clients and marketing team.
Creative Design & Brand Support
  • Create visual assets that support marketing campaigns, thought leadership initiatives, events, sales efforts, and executive communications.

  • Ensure consistent application of brand standards across all materials.

  • Maintain and evolve brand templates, graphics, and design systems.

Presentation & Sales Enablement Design
  • Design executive presentations, decks, client-facing materials, and internal communications.

  • Create sales collateral including one-pagers, brochures, case studies, infographics, and proposals.

  • Transform complex information into visually compelling and easy-to-understand materials.

Digital & Web Design
  • Design landing pages, web graphics, website updates, and email visuals.

  • Create social media graphics and campaign creative assets.

  • Partner with the Digital Producer on digital content production and campaign execution.

Marketing & Campaign Support
  • Develop visual assets for paid, owned, and earned marketing channels.

  • Assist with asset creation for events, webinars, product launches, and brand initiatives.

  • Support content marketing efforts through graphics, illustrations, and visual storytelling.

Cross Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with marketing leadership, sales, and the Digital Producer.

  • Participate in creative brainstorming and campaign development.

  • Deliver work to strategic brief.

  • Self-manage design projects from concept through final delivery on time.

Qualifications:

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Marketing, or related field.

  • 1–2 years of experience in graphic design, creative services, marketing design, or a related role.

  • Strong portfolio demonstrating digital, presentation, and marketing design work.

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).

  • Strong visual design, typography, and layout skills.

  • Exceptional attention to detail.

Preferred

  • Experience designing in PowerPoint and Google Slides.

  • Familiarity with Canva and Figma.

  • Experience supporting website and landing page design.

  • Basic knowledge of digital marketing and social media platforms.

  • Motion graphics or video editing experience.

What Success Looks Like

  • Produces polished, on-brand creative assets across multiple formats.

  • Creates presentations and sales materials that elevate the company's professional image.

  • Delivers strong visual storytelling that helps marketing and sales teams achieve their goals.

  • Partners effectively with the Digital Producer to bring campaigns to life.
