Apigee Architect – Hybrid (Lower Manhattan, NY)Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Apigee Architect to lead API architecture, implementation, and governance initiatives for a large-scale client project. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Google Apigee X/Hybrid, API strategy, cloud integrations, and enterprise API governance, along with strong stakeholder communication skills.

  • Location: Lower Manhattan, NY (Hybrid – onsite 2–3 days/week mandatory)
  • Start: ASAP
Key Responsibilities
  • Architect and implement scalable API management solutions using Google Apigee X/Hybrid.
  • Design API proxies, security policies, authentication mechanisms (OAuth2, JWT, API keys), and API governance frameworks.
  • Lead integrations with backend systems, microservices, and cloud environments including Google Cloud Platform, AWS, and Azure.
  • Define API lifecycle management standards, governance models, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with development, DevOps, and business teams to deliver enterprise-grade API solutions.
  • Support presales activities, technical proposals, and client presentations.
  • Mentor engineering teams and conduct code/design reviews.
Required Skills
  • 7+ years of experience in API architecture and development.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with Google Apigee.
  • Strong expertise in REST APIs, JSON, XML, OpenAPI/Swagger, OAuth2, and JWT.
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices.
  • Strong understanding of API Products, Apps, Analytics, and API economy concepts.
  • Experience with API governance, AI/API strategy, and enterprise integration architecture.
  • Strong knowledge of Google Cloud Platform networking and Apigee deployment models.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Nice to Have
  • Google Application Integration experience.
  • Exposure to MuleSoft, IBM DataPower, or Boomi.
  • Apigee certifications or Google skill badges.
