Job description

OVERVIEW: 

The Shake Senior and Family Good Samaritan Center was developed to provide an array of social services to the Monterey Peninsula community. The Good Samaritan Center Manager provides oversight and administration of the center in accordance with the National Social Servies Standards of The Salvation Army. The Center Manager maintains and oversees the facility including warehouse management, ensuring the safety and orderly service for individuals and families and the timely reporting of statistical information.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee the Good Samaritan Center in accordance with the Social Services Code of Ethics
  • Supervise case managers and provide case management as needed
  • Delegate work assignments to Center staff
  • Collaborate in staff recruitment, performance evaluations and disciplinary actions
  • Manage the recruitment, training, supervision and scheduling of volunteers and interns
  • Maintain general safety and security procedures for the center/ warehouse, including vehicle upkeep
  • Coordinate with local low enforcement on safety issues
  • Ensure the center is kept clean, safe and organized in compliance with food safety regulations, health codes and OSHA standards
  • Oversee the organization and maintenance of Emergency Disaster Services (EDS) supplies housed in the warehouse
  • Support the management and coordination of holiday programs including record keeping, distribution logistics and community events
  • Coordinate and lead weekly planning and coordination meetings with Good Samaritan employees
  • Review, maintain, and advise on changes to Good Samaritan Policies and Procedures
  • Oversee maintenance of all program files and database entries. Keep client information confidential.
  • Network and collaborate with other community social services agencies
  • Oversee the reporting of Gift-In-Kind donations
  • Perform on-call duties related to Good Samaritan facilities security issues and emergencies
  • Provide transportation in Salvation Army vehicle as required
  • Provide support and coverage for front desk and warehouse operations as needed
  • Other related duties as required

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Valid CA Driver's license (required)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or equivalent experience
  • 2 years experience in supervisory roles
  • 2 years experience in social services programs

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledgeable about other social services agencies and providers
  • Posses good writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in grant writing and reporting, government contract and working with funders preferred.
  • Strong team player attitude and emphasis on maintaining a positive work environment
  • Must be comfortable using various software applications including but not limited to Word, Excel ..

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. (file boxes, food panty items etc…)

EQUIPMENT USED: 

  • Modern office equipment (i.e. computer, printer, scanner etc…) and relevant software
  • Hope Mobile (Food Truck) used to distribute meals to clients and in emergency response
