We are looking for a Lab Technician 1 for the following shift:

First Shift: 6:00 AM PST - 2:30 PM PST

Full-Time: Monday - Friday + Weekend Overtime as Needed 

OnSite: Vernon, California


The right candidate will be trained for potential permanent/full-time employment.

JOB SUMMARY

Perform daily tasks involved in the laboratory operation as set forth by Shift Lead/Lab Manager.


Essential Duties

  • Testing and documenting results of base oils, additives, blend samples, and production samples. (Final approval to remain with Chemist) 
  • Creating and sending COAs for designated customers 
  • Assist with calibrating and/or standardizing instrumentation on a scheduled basis or as needed 
  • Keeping up with regular cleaning of the lab including glassware, testing benches, trash, and floors. Refilling necessary chemicals and dumping waste containers when needed
  • Blending, testing, and recording data of hand blend formulations as generated by Chemist 
  • Maintaining sample integrity and organizing sample storage area
  • Retrieving samples from finished good tank


Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong attention to detail, ability to use hand tools, and hard working.
  • Experience in quality control or similar tasks
  • 1-year experience in a laboratory setting
  • Use of general lab instruments 
  • Being able to communicate with team members on other shifts


Work Environment + Physical Requirements

The position is primarily within the laboratory and sample retain area; it involves standing, bending, squatting and climbing step ladders. Occasionally the technician will need to grab tank samples from finished good tanks. This position involves heavy lifting of about 50lbs
