The Opportunity

The Lead Electrical Engineer works independently, in a lead role, or as part of a team, to investigate complaints from on market products or clinical studies.
This is an onsite opportunity based out of Alameda, CA.
What You'll Work On
  • Utilize expertise in the areas of analog measurement electronics, digital electronics, embedded software, firmware, NFC, Bluetooth, and high volume manufacturing to work with teams inside and outside of R&D performing failure analysis investigations.
  • Lead and ensure timely completion of investigations for both individual and team assignments
  • Mentor junior electrical engineers.
  • Develop and document robust methodologies for using product event data and logs to determine root cause of product failures.
  • Author comprehensive investigation documentation to support approve for use, or product improvements.
  • Synthesize electrical and software design documentation.
  • Utilize excellent communication and organization skills to work with cross functional teams and vendors.
  • Utilize good engineering sensibilities, first principles, knowledge of failure modes, knowledge of good lab technique.
  • Utilize good deductive reasoning, sound logic and the ability to explain complicated ideas.
  • Communicate fluently with electrical, mechanical, and embedded software designers as well as quality assurance, clinical investigations, and upper management.
  • Communicate effectively and participate on cross functional development teams to direct multi-disciplinary teams toward solutions.
  • Work in conjunction with developers in creating investigation processes for new products and solutions for identified failure modes.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science Electrical / electronic engineering or related engineering field.
  • Minimum 10 years of related experience in electrical / electronic engineering or related engineering field.
  • Experience with component level product design and or failure analysis.
  • Experience with medical device or IVD design controls per FDA, or regulated industry
  • Experience with products produced at high volumes
  • Demonstrated technical proficiency, creativity, and independent thought.
  • Knowledge of electrical component failure modes.
  • Ability to conduct thorough data analytics.
  • Strong analytical & problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to provide guidance to junior team members.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with embedded electronics, analog measurement circuitry, op amps, A/D, mixed signal ASICs, BLE, Bluetooth, NFC, battery powered devices.
  • Lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, source measurement units (SMU), power analyzers, spectrum analyzers.
  • PCBA level product design for low power measurement circuitry produced at high volume.
  • Experience supporting FDA audit responses.
  • Good understanding of processes used in the design, documentation, and verification of medical devices or IVD.

The base pay for this position is
$130,700.00 - $261,300.00
