Job description

Position Summary: We are seeking a creative and experienced Baking & Pastry Supervisor / Junior Baking & Pastry Sous Chef with administration responsibilities to help lead our pastry department. The ideal candidate is someone who is deeply passionate about pastry arts, has a keen eye for detail, and a strong background in creating exquisite desserts and pastries. As a Baking & Pastry Supervisor, you will work closely with our Executive Pastry Chef to oversee the production of high-quality desserts, bread, cakes and pastries.
Pay Rate: The rate of pay listed on job boards are auto-generated numbers. Kiawah Island Golf Resort's actual rate of pay will be determined during the hiring process.
Qualifications:
  • Experience in baking, pastry, or pastry kitchen supervision.
  • Strong knowledge of baking techniques, ingredients, and pastry production.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Understanding of food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.

Expectations & Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and support pastry cooks and bakery staff during daily production.
  • Ensure consistent quality, presentation, and taste of all baked goods and desserts.
  • Assist with planning and preparing pastries, breads, cakes, and specialty desserts.
  • Maintain proper food safety, sanitation, and kitchen cleanliness standards.
  • Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering ingredients and supplies.
  • Train, mentor, and coach team members on baking techniques and kitchen procedures.
  • Coordinate with the culinary team to support restaurant service, banquets, and special events.
  • Ensure recipes and production schedules are followed to meet service demands.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Essential Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time during scheduled shifts.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, twisting, and repetitive hand movements while preparing food.
  • Ability to safely use kitchen equipment such as mixers, ovens, slicers, and other bakery tools.
  • Ability to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by business needs.
