What is a golf manager?

Golf Managers are professionals responsible for overseeing the operations of golf courses or golf clubs. Their duties typically include managing staff, organizing tournaments, maintaining the course, ensuring quality customer service, and handling budgets and finances. They also work to promote the facility, implement policies, and ensure that the course meets safety and maintenance standards. Golf Managers play a key role in creating a positive experience for members and guests while ensuring the business runs efficiently.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a golf manager?

To thrive as a Golf Manager, you need a solid understanding of golf operations, business management, and customer service, often supported by a degree in hospitality, sports management, or business. Familiarity with golf course management software, POS systems, and knowledge of industry certifications such as PGA membership are typically required. Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills help you build relationships with staff, members, and guests. These skills are crucial for delivering a high-quality golf experience, optimizing course operations, and driving business success.

What challenges do golf managers face in balancing operational efficiency with delivering a high-quality guest experience?

Golf Managers often juggle the demands of maintaining course quality, managing staff schedules, and ensuring a seamless experience for guests. One common challenge is aligning budget constraints with high expectations for course conditions and customer service. Effective Golf Managers address this by prioritizing communication, leveraging technology for scheduling and maintenance, and fostering a collaborative team environment. They also work closely with groundskeepers, event coordinators, and hospitality staff to anticipate busy periods and resolve issues quickly, ensuring both operational efficiency and exceptional guest satisfaction.

Job description

Position Overview
Grand View Lodge is looking for a dynamic, relationship-driven Sales Manager to specialize in golf groups and wellness retreats, two of our most distinctive resort offerings. You'll manage the full sales cycle from first inquiry through rebooking, craft customized packages, and serve as the primary point of contact for group guests throughout their stay. This is a role for someone who genuinely loves hospitality, thrives on building lasting client relationships, and gets energized by delivering experiences that exceed expectations.

With exposure to all aspects of resort business, golf, spa, F&B, lodging, and events, this role offers real growth potential and a front-row seat to how a top-tier resort operates.

About Grand View Lodge & Cote Hospitality

For over 100 years, Cote Hospitality has crafted transformative guest experiences across world-class resorts and camps. At Grand View Lodge, that means exceptional wellness woven into a full resort lifestyle, golf, dining, events, and more, all grounded in our CoteCares culture of belonging, respect, and shared purpose. We're invested in your growth here: this role comes with real opportunity to advance and expand your skills within our Sales department.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage golf and wellness group inquiries end-to-end; negotiating rates, crafting customized packages, and maximizing revenue across lodging, spa, golf, and resort activities.
  • Draft contracts, manage deposits, maintain organized group files, and oversee all client communication from first inquiry through post-stay follow-up and rebooking.
  • Partner closely with Golf, Spa & Wellness, F&B, and Reservations teams to ensure seamless group operations and an elevated on-property experience.
  • Personally welcome group guests upon arrival, serve as their dedicated on-property contact, and ensure every expectation is met and exceeded.
  • Promote dining, spa services, and resort activities to enhance group packages and grow per-guest spend.
  • Support the planning and execution of tournaments, wellness retreats, and specialty weekend programming.
  • Gather post-stay feedback from group clients to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and strengthen future bookings.
  • Prepare weekly sales updates, maintain accurate records in property and sales management systems, and contribute to revenue forecasting.
  • May hire, mentor, and evaluate sales support staff as the role grows.
  • This is a resort hospitality role; flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and evenings based on group business levels is required.

What you bring:

  • Previous hotel, resort, or hospitality sales experience preferred; a genuine passion for sales and guest experience is a must.
  • Familiarity with golf, resort activities, and wellness experiences; knowledge of the Brainerd Lakes area and Grand View Lodge is a strong plus.
  • A natural relationship-builder with strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented and organized; you can manage multiple groups, deadlines, and priorities without dropping the ball.
  • Tech-proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; comfortable with property and sales management systems.
  • Comfortable working both in-office and on-property, with occasional travel to The Preserve Golf Course.

Why join us

You'll be part of a team that genuinely invests in its people. CoteCares isn't a tagline, it's how we show up for each other every day. You'll have the tools, support, and team culture to do your best work, with real opportunity to grow your career within our Sales department.
