Description

Job Overview:
This position is responsible for providing first contact customer interaction including opening and closing of Pro Shop, booking tee times, checking in golfers through the Point of Sale, selling merchandise, cleaning and stocking the Pro Shop, and assisting in ordering supplies. The Golf Shop Assistant will also be assigned specific, often varying tasks on a day-to-day basis by the Director and Pro Shop Manager. The Golf Shop Assistant should also be able to adapt to meet changing demands and requirements while in the workplace.
 
Your Responsibilities:
  • Advises members and guests about attire, golf clubs, and supplies, etc.
  • Arranges and displays Pro Shop inventory.
  • Records all sales transactions.
  • Collects and records greens fees and cart rental fees.
  • Sell merchandise, special order merchandise, help with inventory, check-in golfers prior to their round of golf, and can open and close Pro Shop.
  • Must know all aspects of the point of sale computer system to include start-up, close, entering golf-related fees, merchandise sales with gift certificates or sweeps.
  • Have knowledge of all aspects of the handicap computer to include, including setting up tournaments, Golf Genius, end-of-month updates, and all pertinent reports.
  • Assist with monthly inventory.
  • Assist in maintaining and regulating policies, rules, and regulations of golf department operations.
  • Must comply with all rules and regulations as stated in the Employee Handbook.
  • The schedule varies to the needs of the Club. Weekends and holidays are required.
  • Other duties as required.
 
 Skills and Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalency preferred.
  • Knowledge of golf is a plus, but not required.
  • Positive attitude and good manners are a must.
  • Experience with Golf Genius preferred.
  • Computer literacy: Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Windows software. 
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Strong customer service, communication and interpersonal skills required.
  • A valid driver's license is required. 
 
Physical Requirements:  
  • Ability to lift 30 – 50 lbs. 
  • Work in an upright standing position for long periods of time. 
  • Constant movement about the facility and grounds.
  • Frequent operation of equipment including picker and golf carts.
  • Frequent communication with members, must be able to exchange accurate information.
  • Frequent lifting and moving of objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Work is mostly outdoors with exposure to varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to respond to emergencies in a timely manner.
Schedule: Wednesday, 11am-4pm & Sunday, 7:30am - 4pm. Days and hours are flexible.
What We Offer:
As a non-exempt part-time associate, you will be eligible for supplemental benefits to include dental, and Vision. In addition, you will be eligible a 401k with company match. Occasional travel may be required to attend training and other company functions.
Compensation: $17.50 per hour
