Responsible for maintenance, operation and management of golf course. Oversees and participates in the maintenance of golf course greens, tees, fairways, and traffic areas. Oversees and participates in the repair of all facilities, equipment, and motorized equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES OF THE POSITION:
  • Planning, layout, and maintenance of golf course properties, and in the supervision of maintenance staff.
  • Maintain golf course putting greens, tees, fairways, roughs, bunkers, roads, ponds, streams, and related areas.
  • Maintain cart paths, parking lots, and service roads by edging, leveling, grading or patching.
  • Perform the aerifying of greens, tees, and other golf course turf seasonally and as needed.
  • Perform planting and maintenance of trees, flowers, shrubs and grasses.
  • Operate and perform routine maintenance to a variety of hand tools and power equipment including mowers, tractors, chain saws, string trimmers, aerifiers, top dressers, front end loaders and one-ton dump trucks.
  • Plan timing of and perform the application of fertilizers, pesticides and soil conditioners.
  • Maintain records and MSDS relating to the chemicals used on the golf course.
  • Operate, maintain, and repair irrigation and drainage systems.
  • Direct the activities and determine priorities of assigned personnel.
  • Keeps accurate written reports of treatment schedule for greens, tees, fairways, and equipment inventory, pesticide applications, etc.
  • Develop, administer, and manage the expense and departmental budget.
  • Maintains strict adherence of all OSHA safety rules and regulations.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Two or four year degree/certificate in turf management, and/or a minimum of 5 years of increasingly responsible experience performing in areas such as turf management, horticulture, and irrigation system installation and maintenance at an 18 hole or larger golf facility.
  • 5 years of supervisory/managerial experience.
  • Experience with golf course construction and/or renovation projects preferred.
