Qualifications Graduation from high school or possession of a GED; and Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Business Management or a related field is preferred; and A minimum of five years experience in golf leadership positions (Assistant or Head Golf Professional); and Must be a member in good standing of the Professional Golfers Association (Class A) General Statement of Duties The principle function of the Golf Course Professional is to provide leadership, direction, and insight in the administration of and management of the Desert Canyon Golf Course. This position is expected to perform professional and technical tasks related to promoting, teaching, and developing the game of golf within the community including: oversight of pro shop operations, providing golf instruction, coordination of tournaments, and directing the overall operation of the golf course. Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge of: Extensive knowledge of the game of golf, rules of golf, golf facility operations, and tournament operations Extensive knowledge of business, finance, marketing, and retail practices Comprehensive knowledge of teaching and instructions related to popular golf techniques Extensive knowledge of customer service principles and public relations Ability to: Demonstrate exceptional golf skills and teach golf skills to players of all ages and skill levels Prepare accurate and reliable reports containing findings, recommendations, and conclusions concerning golf course and pro shop operations Use tools and technology necessary to manage a municipal golf course and pro shop including point of sale systems and tee time reservation software Effectively lead, supervise, and develop employees Other Requirements All candidates are required to pass the following to be considered for the above position: Ability to pass a background check, driving record, and pre-employment drug/alcohol test Possession of a driver's license issued by the State of Idaho.
