Forecaddie information

What does a Forecaddie do?

A Forecaddie assists golfers by tracking shots, locating balls, and providing course knowledge, but does not carry clubs. They typically stay ahead of the group, offering guidance and reading greens to help players make strategic decisions. Unlike a traditional caddie, a Forecaddie serves an entire group rather than just one golfer, ensuring a smooth pace of play.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Forecaddie position, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Forecaddie, you need a thorough knowledge of golf rules and etiquette, attention to detail, and physical stamina, often gained through experience on golf courses. Familiarity with GPS systems, scorekeeping tools, and communication devices such as radios or earpieces is beneficial. Outstanding customer service, clear communication, and teamwork are standout soft skills in this role. These qualities ensure a seamless golfing experience for players and help forecaddies effectively anticipate and meet both the golfers' and course's needs.

What does a typical day look like for a Forecaddie on the course?

A typical day for a Forecaddie involves arriving early to prepare for assigned groups, walking ahead of golfers to locate balls, provide yardage information, and offer strategic tips. Forecaddies help manage pace of play, maintain course conditions (like raking bunkers and replacing divots), and communicate with both golfers and fellow staff to ensure a smooth round. You’ll also be responsible for keeping score when requested and anticipating the needs of the group. The work is active and outdoors, offering plenty of interaction with players and opportunities to learn the game's nuances each day.
