Position Overview

The Laundry Attendant at The Nicewonder Inn is responsible for ensuring all linens, towels, and related items are cleaned, maintained, and presented to the highest standards of quality and hospitality. By operating laundry equipment efficiently and maintaining a safe, organized workspace, this role directly supports the comfort and satisfaction of every guest. The Laundry Attendant helps uphold the Innโ€™s reputation for luxury and excellence in service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sort, wash, dry, fold, and iron linens and towels in accordance with established procedures and quality standards.
  • Operate commercial washers, dryers, and ironing equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Inspect linens and towels for stains, tears, or damage; follow guidelines for stain removal, repair, or replacement.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the laundry area, including equipment, supplies, and storage.
  • Monitor and replenish laundry supplies (detergents, softeners, stain removers) to ensure smooth operations.
  • Follow proper safety and sanitation protocols when handling cleaning chemicals and equipment.
  • Assist with housekeeping duties as needed, including turndown service, public area cleaning, or room attendant tasks.
  • Uphold service excellence standards by ensuring fresh, clean linens and towels are consistently available for guest use.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Housekeeping Director.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year of laundry operations or housekeeping experience, preferably in a hotel or hospitality setting.
  • Familiarity with commercial laundry equipment and procedures; strong attention to detail; ability to follow instructions; physical stamina for repetitive tasks; strong teamwork and communication skills.

Preferred:

  • Experience in a luxury hotel, resort, or boutique inn.
  • Knowledge of fabric care, stain treatment, and sustainable laundry practices.
  • Bilingual abilities.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Ability to safely operate and maintain laundry equipment.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple laundry loads efficiently.
  • Knowledge of cleaning products, chemicals, and their safe handling.
  • Commitment to maintaining high quality standards and guest satisfaction.

Work Environment / Physical Requirements

  • Laundry facility environment with frequent exposure to heat, moisture, and cleaning chemicals.
  • Requires standing, bending, stooping, and lifting for extended periods.
  • Must be able to lift, push, or pull up to 40 lbs (laundry bags, linens, supplies).
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as business needs require.
