The Restaurant Manager at Surly Brewing Co. is a key leadership role within the front-of-house team, responsible for overseeing daily service operations and ensuring exceptional guest experiences. This position requires a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment and can effectively manage, coach, and support team members. The Restaurant Manager is expected to maintain Surly's standards of service, culture, and hospitality while fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
This position is a salaried position with a pay range of $50 - $55,000. The position is eligible for all benefits (medical, dental, 401k, PTO, etc).
Essential Functions - Lead and manage the service team, and conduct performance reviews.
- Maintain high standards of service through training, coaching, and quality assurance programs.
- Provide hands-on support during service, including table-touches, food running, and floor oversight.
- Open and close the restaurant, including toast reconciliation, pre-shift meetings, and daily reporting.
- Collaborate with the AGM on interviewing, onboarding and training new hires.
- Maintain and update training binders, allergen spec sheets, and service materials.
- Communicate updates to other managers and leadership.
- Conduct one-on-one meetings and audits of staff performance and section management.
- Support recruitment, scheduling, and staffing efforts.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and high-energy work culture.
- Collaborate with the Experience Manager on activations and guest engagement initiatives.
- Track and report on beer and food sales, business volume, and service trends.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of service areas.
- Enforce rules and policies while setting leadership standards and accountability.
- Execute administrative tasks as assigned by the GM, AGM, or VP.
- Represent Surly's brand and culture in all guest and team interactions.
Preferred Qualifications - High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum 2 years of restaurant management experience; 3-5 years preferred.
- TIPS Certified. Training will be provided by Surly if certification is expired/needed.
- Strong knowledge of beer styles, Surly products, and hospitality trends.
- Experience with Toast POS, HotSchedules, ADP, and other hospitality systems.
- Proven ability to multitask and lead in high-volume settings.
- Cash handling experience.
- Outgoing personality and commitment to exemplary customer service.
- Ability to work any FOH position, including serving, bartending, hosting, and expo.
- Familiarity with health codes, inspections, and hospitality regulations.
- Strong communication, organizational, and HR-related skills.
- Flexible schedule availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in a loud, humid environment.
