Field Service Engineer
Deceuninck North America is seeking a Field Service Engineer for its Western Region. In this role, the Field Service Engineer. will assist customers in the analysis, selection, procurement and implementation of window manufacturing equipment. The Field Service Engineer will also coordinate the efforts of all essential personnel from equipment manufacturers, tooling vendors, hardware suppliers and the customer to meet customer and business needs.
Core Responsibilities:
(Customer Locations)
  • Work with customers to determine the functionality of each machine used in the fabrication of windows and its suitability for re-use when retooling a window fabrication line
  • Prepare plans for changeover from one product line to another.
  • Assist in improving the efficiencies of a customer's operation.
  • Assist in determining the best location for equipment.
  • Assist the Fenestration Lab personnel in performing field testing of units.
  • Regular visits with largest customers to assist in day-to-day operations.
  • Maintain phone contact with customer base.
  • Assist less experienced personnel in the trouble shooting of problems at customer's plants.
  • Conduct on-site training for customers and their plant personnel.
  • Operate and demonstrate window fabrication equipment.
  • Explain the basics of window operation.
  • Prepare trip reports for internal distribution.
  • Follow-up on any open issues in a timely manner.

(Office Based Functions)
  • Identify & purchase tools for re-tooling of equipment.
  • Analyze engineering drawings and create equipment takes-offs from drawings.
  • Prepare requests for quotation (RFQ's) on equipment purchases.
  • Analyze quotations and place purchase orders for customer's equipment.
  • Evaluate capabilities of tooling vendors and determine suitability as an approved equipment vendor.
  • Work with product engineering to determine best practices for fabrication of window systems.
  • Analyze and critique fabrication prints provided by product engineering.
  • Coordinate and mediate complaints about fabrication equipment & tooling between customers and equipment vendors.
  • Assist in training of less experienced Technical Service Representatives.
  • Maintain up to date customer files.
  • Maintain & report status of customer start-up projects.
  • Build and verify new window products for evaluation.
  • Receive phone calls from customers and direct complaints to the appropriate internal department for resolution.
  • Performs regular follow-up until open problems reach conclusion.
  • Build new window product samples for sales and marketing.
  • Assists in the construction and set up of trade show displays.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area at the home office and the customer's facilities.

Qualifications:
  • Fenestration experience, windows and doors (extrusion, manufacturing, hardware)
  • Current relationships with window and door manufacturers.
  • Minimum of 5 years related experience in vinyl window manufacturing and machinery set-up and debugging preferred.
  • Strong mechanical ability with understanding of building and/or manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to troubleshoot manufacturing processes and provide problem-solving solutions.
  • Additional experience in the transportation, installation and field service of window and door products is desirable.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD
  • Located in AZ, NV, WA, OR, UT or ID.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 75%.

Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering discipline field from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience required..
