Substitute Teacher


At the heart of GLOW Academy is a focus on "whole girl" education. We seek to foster the growth of leadership and confidence in our students and build and sustain family support, all while engaging all of our students in a rigorous college preparatory program. This means that GLOW emphasizes the following areas to ensure that each girl has a successful 6-12 experience and continues on to college: leadership development, early college and career awareness, health and wellness and expanded opportunities in science, technology, math and the arts.


GLOW Academy is looking to add to its Substitute Pool. We are seeking professionals who are committed to supporting different ways of learning, are motivated and engaged, and have a love of children. Due to scheduling needs, we are prioritizing candidates with open availability during instructional hours (8:15am - 3:15pm, Monday through Friday).


POSITION DETAILS


  • POSITION: Substitute Teacher
  • AVAILABLE: Immediately
  • REPORTS TO: Assistant Principal


SALARY


  • $166 - Current in-state professional licensure
  • $146 - Out of state or expired professional licensure
  • $136 - Non-licensure
  • Full Day = 8 hours (Full Rate)
  • Half Day = 4 hours ( Daily Rate)


QUALIFICATIONS


  • High school diploma or equivalent and Effective Teacher Training course
  • Experience in a classroom setting
  • Leadership and team collaboration skills
  • Dependability
  • Open availability, last minute scheduling
  • Possession of a valid TB test and health examination issued by the local county board of health or recognized medical authority


JOB DETAILS


  • Maintain rules of classroom behavior and procedure; maintain order and safety in the classroom.
  • Must use classroom instructional time wisely.
  • Must be able to teach subject areas, follow lesson plans and provide instructional activities for students.
  • Ability to constantly monitor the safety and well-being of students.
  • Carry out non-instructional duties as required or assigned. Perform related duties and responsibilities as required by the Principal.
  • Assist students as needed with classwork assignments.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; ability to communicate well with school personnel, students, and parents.
  • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines and accomplish specific tasks as requested.
  • Ability to perform clerical duties.
  • Leave notes for the teacher at the end of the teaching day.
  • Keep records on attendance, accidents and incidents.
  • Physical ability (able to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally) and dexterity to perform the duties and responsibilities of the job.
