Job Title: Tactile ASL Interpreter

Location: Seattle, WA (On-site )
Company: Global Language System (A division of Global Impact Group LLC)
Job Type: Contract / Part-Time / Full-Time (Flexible based on availability)
Position Overview

Global Language System is seeking qualified Tactile American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreters to support DeafBlind individuals in the Seattle, Washington area. The interpreter will facilitate effective communication using tactile signing and other DeafBlind communication methods in a variety of settings including medical, legal, community, and educational environments.
Key Responsibilities

  • Provide tactile ASL interpretation for DeafBlind clients
  • Adapt communication methods to meet individual client needs (e.g., tactile fingerspelling, tracking, ProTactile methods)
  • Maintain accuracy, neutrality, and confidentiality in all interpreting assignments
  • Collaborate with support service providers (SSPs), case managers, and client teams
  • Arrive on time and prepared for assignments (in-person or virtual where applicable)
  • Follow RID Code of Professional Conduct and ADA guidelines

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in Tactile ASL / DeafBlind interpreting
  • RID Certification (CI/CT, NIC, or equivalent) preferred
  • State of Washington Interpreter Certification (if applicable)
  • Strong knowledge of DeafBlind culture and communication techniques
  • Ability to work in diverse settings (medical, legal, community, etc.)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Preferred Skills

  • Proficiency in ProTactile language practices
  • Experience working with support service providers (SSPs)
  • Familiarity with HIPAA compliance (for medical assignments)
  • Flexible scheduling and availability

Compensation

  • Hourly Rate: $45 $85 per hour (based on experience, certification, and assignment type)
  • Premium rates for specialized, urgent, or after-hours assignments
