Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Senior Manager - Traffic Monitoring to lead traffic monitoring operations supporting regional transportation agencies and roadway networks in Nebraska and is onsite in Omaha. This role oversees the operational unit responsible for monitoring roadway conditions, tracking incidents, and supporting transportation system performance through real-time data and operational coordination.

The Senior Manager will direct program delivery, manage operational staff, and ensure traffic monitoring services are delivered reliably and in accordance with client requirements and company standards. The role includes responsibility for operational planning, financial management, and program performance reporting.

This position requires a strong understanding of transportation operations, the ability to lead technical teams, and experience coordinating with public-sector transportation agencies to support effective traffic monitoring and incident response programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and direct the traffic monitoring operational unit supporting regional roadway networks.
  • Ensure projects and operational services are delivered on schedule and meet company and client standards.
  • Develop work plans, task definitions, and operational procedures to support monitoring activities.
  • Oversee data collection, traffic monitoring analytics, and reporting used to support operational decisions.
  • Manage project budgets, financial performance, and operational resources.
  • Provide periodic operational and financial progress reports to senior leadership.
  • Coordinate with transportation agencies and operational partners on traffic monitoring and incident management activities.
  • Develop solutions to operational and client challenges through analysis of system performance and business practices.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of operational staff and consultants.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • BA/BS + 10 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, including 2 years of leadership

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting Traffic Management Centers (TMCs) or transportation operations programs.
  • Familiarity with Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) technologies such as CCTV monitoring, incident detection systems, and traveler information systems.
  • Experience managing operational programs involving real-time transportation system monitoring.
  • Experience overseeing project budgets, operational planning, and program-level reporting.
  • Experience working with state DOTs, municipal transportation departments, or regional transportation agencies.
  • Demonstrated experience leading or mentoring technical or operational teams.
