With rapid growth comes opportunity. We are looking for a Global Market Development Manager to join our team. This is a remote role, full-time, Exempt role.


The Market Development Manager plays a critical role in leading Hygiena’s strategic initiatives across targeted One Health Diagnostics®. This cross-functional position blends scientific acumen, regulatory expertise, and business leadership to ensure Hygiena’s solutions meet the evolving demands of global food safety, quality, and compliance from field to plate.

As a thought leader and industry advocate, the Market Development Manager serves as the company’s voice in key committees, industry conferences, and regulatory discussions. This position drives innovation and alignment between customer needs, regulatory frameworks, and commercial strategy and execution, positioning Hygiena as a trusted partner across the global food supply chain.


Responsibilities:


Industry Leadership & Advocacy

  • Represent Hygiena as a subject matter expert in One Health Diagnostics® and key market segments through industry committees, conferences, and forums.
  • Influence policy and contribute to regulatory dialogue, ensuring our technologies support and anticipate global regulatory expectations, reform decisions on markets to identify value adding opportunities. Build trusted relationships with agencies such as U.S. FDA, USDA/FSIS and LATAM ministries of agriculture, Codex Alimentarius.


Market & Technical Expertise

  • Monitor industry trends, regulatory shifts, and customer insights to identify strategic opportunities in One Health Diagnostics® pre- and post-harvest sectors.
  • Assesses, validates, and develops solutions to overcome market development barriers across existing and emerging market segments using market development tools (e.g., opportunity assessments, workshops, market research, and data analysis).
  • Identifies, leads, and executes short- and long-term strategic initiatives to improve business performance, strengthen competitive positioning, expand market access, and increase segment share.
  • Leads cross-functional market development initiatives, collaborating closely with R&D, Product Management, Regional Sales and Marketing, Corporate Marketing, and Scientific Affairs to inform product development and drive market-responsive innovation.


Strategic Marketing Leadership

  • Develop and execute vertical-specific marketing strategies that align with Hygiena’s global business objectives.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously refine go-to-market strategies, actionable plans, campaigns, and programs to overcome barriers to market entry, increase adoption, and accelerate growth across targeted market segments.
  • Partner with Product Management, Global and Regional Marketing, Technical Sales, and Scientific Affairs to develop compelling business cases that address unmet customer needs and drive sustainable growth within key market segments.
  • Contributes to the Regional Strategic Plan, Annual Operating Plan, and Quarterly Business Reviews by translating market insights, competitive intelligence, economic trends, primary and secondary research into actionable recommendations that support strategic business decisions.


Sales Enablement & Customer Engagement

  • Deliver targeted training and ongoing support to internal and external commercial teams, enabling them to effectively communicate technical, regulatory, and market-specific value propositions.
  • Develop impactful segment-specific content, value propositions, and go-to-market assets that address customer challenges and opportunities while adapting strategies, messaging, and tactics to different routes to market.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to strategic customers, translating complex scientific, regulatory, and operational needs into practical, value-driven solutions.


Regulatory Compliance & Engagement

  • Stay ahead of emerging regulations, market dynamics and maintain expertise in U.S. FDA, USDA/FSIS, Health Canada, and LATAM standards.
  • Act as a primary regulatory and/or regional trade association liaison, ensuring open, proactive communication between Hygiena and relevant authorities.
  • Provide internal guidance and updates on compliance changes, helping teams stay aligned with global expectations.


Stakeholder Collaboration & Thought Leadership

  • Cultivate partnerships with producers, processors, regulatory authorities, and trade organizations supporting the market segments responsible for increasing market share.
  • Act as the central point of contact for external vertical stakeholders, reinforcing Hygiena’s reputation for quality, innovation, and expertise.
  • Support industry collaboration to shape best practices in food safety and compliance.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's, Master's, MBA, or Ph.D. in Food Science, Animal Science, Agriculture, Veterinary Medicine, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, or a related scientific discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in the food industry, with expertise in food safety, Scientific Affairs, Market Development, Product Management, Business Development, Technical Sales, or other customer-facing technical or commercial roles.
  • Demonstrated experience driving market development, commercialization, customer adoption, and business growth, typically gained through at least 3 years in Market Development or a related commercial, scientific, product management, or business development role.
  • Proven success engaging with diagnostics business, and market access with regulatory agencies such as the U.S. FDA, USDA/FSIS, or Codex Alimentarius equivalent bodies.
  • Strong background in developing, implementing cs, food safety and quality solutions in regulated industries.
  • Proven track record in market strategy development and execution, and product innovation in applied industries


Salary Range (applicable to California):

$125,000.00 – $140,000.00/annual salary DOE, plus bonus.

  • May occasionally work early morning/evenings/weekends to accommodate meetings and travel
  • Up to 30% domestic and international travel, including customer visits, regional offices, and industry events.
