Lead Commercial Glazier

J&A Glass & Mirror Inc.
Rogers, Minnesota
Full-time | Year-round work
Pay: $32–$42 per hour, based on commercial glazing and crew leadership experience

J&A Glass is hiring an experienced commercial glazier to lead field installations throughout the Twin Cities area.

This is a working lead position. You will install alongside the crew while taking ownership of installation quality, jobsite communication, daily progress, and the direction of installers assigned to your projects.

We are looking for someone who can read shop drawings, plan an installation, identify problems before they stop the job, and keep a crew productive without constant supervision.

What You Will Do

  • Lead commercial glass and glazing installations from jobsite preparation through completion
  • Install aluminum storefront, curtain wall, entrances, interior glass, doors, frames, and related hardware
  • Direct installers and helpers by clearly assigning work and communicating daily priorities
  • Perform and assist with accurate field measurements
  • Review shop drawings, installation details, hardware requirements, and project information before beginning work
  • Coordinate with project managers, general contractors, customers, and other trades
  • Identify field conditions, missing material, fabrication issues, and scope conflicts early
  • Develop solutions and communicate issues before they delay the project
  • Install closers, thresholds, door hardware, perimeter sealants, and brake metal
  • Complete accurate daily reports, including progress, labor, materials, delays, and site conditions
  • Maintain company vehicles, tools, equipment, and an organized work area
  • Enforce J&A Glass safety and quality expectations on every jobsite
  • Assist in training and developing new installers working under your direction

What We Need

  • At least 3 years of commercial glazing experience
  • Demonstrated ability to independently install storefront, entrances, glass, and commercial door hardware
  • Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, plans, and installation details
  • Experience directing installers or taking ownership of field installations
  • Strong measuring, layout, caulking, and problem-solving skills
  • Professional communication with coworkers, project managers, contractors, and customers
  • Steady leadership when schedules change or field problems arise
  • Valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 70 pounds
  • Ability to work from ladders, lifts, and elevated work areas
  • Ability to work outdoors in changing Minnesota weather
  • Willingness to travel to occasional out-of-area jobs
  • Ability to obtain forklift, boom lift, and scissor lift certifications
  • Basic personal hand tools. J&A provides specialty tools and equipment.

Schedule

  • Typical hours are 6:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • Monday through Friday
  • Overtime as project schedules require
  • Full-time, year-round work
