Hartung Glass Industries is seeking an experienced Glass Estimator to join our Farmers Branch team.


The Glass Estimator is responsible for reviewing project specifications, identifying appropriate glass products, calculating material and fabrication requirements, and preparing accurate and competitive quotations. This position works closely with customers, Inside Sales, Outside Sales, and production teams to ensure quotes meet customer requirements and Hartung's manufacturing capabilities.


The ideal candidate has experience with architectural or fabricated glass, can read and interpret glass specifications, and understands how product selection, fabrication requirements, labor, and lead times affect project pricing.

Requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Review proposals, drawings, specifications, takeoffs, and related project documents to determine estimating requirements.
  • Read and interpret architectural glass specifications and customer requirements.
  • Prepare accurate glass quotations based on product specifications, fabrication requirements, labor, materials, and production time.
  • Identify appropriate glass products, fabrication options, availability, and acceptable product alternatives.
  • Verify glass types, thicknesses, sizes, coatings, heat treatment, insulating requirements, edgework, holes, notches, and other fabrication requirements as applicable.
  • Calculate estimated material, labor, fabrication, and processing costs.
  • Identify discrepancies, incomplete specifications, or conflicting information and obtain clarification before completing estimates.
  • Quote the correct materials and fabrication processes required to meet customer specifications.
  • Prepare clear and complete estimating information for entry into the quoting and order management system.
  • Review completed quotations for accuracy before distribution to customers or Outside Sales.
  • Prepare product specifications, technical documentation, and supporting information for customer project submittals.
  • Provide technical glass information, product recommendations, and custom pricing support to customers and Inside Sales.
  • Communicate with Outside Sales regarding quotations, product specifications, technical questions, pricing, and project concerns.
  • Research and resolve complex customer inquiries related to products, fabrication capabilities, specifications, and pricing.
  • Maintain accurate estimating and cost information within company systems.
  • Maintain organized documentation and records for estimates and project specifications.
  • Stay current on glass products, fabrication capabilities, industry standards, and technical information.
  • Work collaboratively with Sales, Customer Service, Operations, and other departments to support customer and business needs.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Experience in glass estimating, architectural glass, commercial glazing, glass fabrication, construction estimating, or a related field preferred.
  • Working knowledge of fabricated and architectural glass products strongly preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret glass specifications, architectural drawings, project documents, and customer requirements.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Ability to calculate material requirements, dimensions, quantities, labor, and production costs accurately.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quote accuracy.
