What is the glass ceiling?

The glass ceiling is a metaphorical barrier that prevents certain individuals, often women and minorities, from advancing to higher levels of leadership or management within organizations, despite having the qualifications or abilities necessary for those positions. This invisible obstacle is not an official or legal barrier, but rather results from discriminatory practices, stereotypes, and organizational culture. The glass ceiling can affect career progression, pay, and professional development opportunities. Efforts to break the glass ceiling include promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace.

What strategies can women use to overcome the glass ceiling and advance into leadership roles?

Women aiming to break through the glass ceiling often benefit from actively seeking mentorship and sponsorship within their organizations, building strong professional networks, and continuously developing leadership skills through training and feedback. Demonstrating measurable results, advocating for oneself, and seeking roles with increased responsibility can also help stand out for advancement. Many organizations now offer leadership development programs and employee resource groups specifically designed to support women in career progression. Collaborating with allies and engaging in open conversations about career goals with supervisors can further create visibility and open doors to leadership opportunities.

Job description

Residential Glazier - Measure & Sell | Glass Doctor of North Texas

Total Earning Potential: $90,000-$120,000+

You Measure Twice, Close Once - And We Pay You Like It

Glass Doctor of North Texas is hiring a Residential Glazier who's part craftsman, part closer. If you can walk into a stranger's home, earn their trust in five minutes, nail the measurements, and walk out with a signed deal, we've been looking for you.

Why This Role Hits Different

You control your paycheck. Base pay plus uncapped commission means your earning potential grows with every upgrade you sell and every referral you earn - $90K-$120K+ is the range our top performers hit, with no ceiling above it.

You're not just an installer. You're the expert homeowners actually listen to. You'll quote on the spot, recommend the right glass for their home and budget, and upsell smart upgrades - because you know the product better than anyone else in the room.

We hand you the truck, tools, and tech. Company vehicle, professional-grade tools, and mobile quoting software - all provided. You show up ready to work, not ready to spend your own money on gear.

The backend is handled. Scheduling, support, and admin are covered so you can focus on what you do best: measuring right and selling smart.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

  • Visiting homes to measure windows, doors, and custom glass (shower enclosures, mirrors, tabletops, and more)
  • Delivering on-the-spot quotes and walking customers through their options
  • Upselling upgrades and additional services when it's the right fit - and closing the deal
  • Documenting jobs with before/after photos and keeping job status updated in our software
  • Building the kind of trust that turns one job into a lifetime customer and a stream of referrals

What You Bring

  • 2+ years of residential glazing or related trade experience
  • A tape measure you trust and a habit of double-checking anyway
  • The confidence to talk to homeowners like people, not prospects
  • A sales instinct - you know how to suggest the upgrade without being pushy
  • Clean driving record and valid license
  • Professional appearance and a genuine desire to grow
  • Bonus: experience with quoting software or mobile estimating tools

Benefits:

  • Company provided short term and long term disability and life-insurance
  • 2 weeks paid time off - earn additional PTO on each anniversary
  • 8 paid holidays
  • Company take own vehicle, gas and maintenance provided

Our Values: HIGHER

We don't just hire for skill - we hire for fit. Everyone on our team lives by:

  • Here to Serve - each other and the company
  • Integrity in all dealings
  • Growth mindset shared by all
  • Hard work, play hard
  • Elite performance and nothing less
  • Respect for all people

The Bottom Line

You bring the skill and the people-smarts. We bring the truck, the tools, the leads, and a pay structure that actually rewards you for being great at both halves of this job.

Apply today - your next home visit could be your best paycheck yet.
