Job Grade: 7 ($25.38 - $31.00)

Classification: Hourly (Non-Exempt); Full-Time 

Department: Information Technology

Schedule: M-F 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. 

Location: Delaware, OH; Olentangy Campus

Summary of   Responsibilities

Responsible for observing the installation of new water lines and other facilities to ensure conformance with Del-Co Water construction standards and conducting inspections of backflow prevention assembly installations for conformance with state law Del-Co Water standards. Other major areas of responsibility include operating global positioning systems (GPS) equipment, performing quality control of GPS data entry, basic mapping in the company's Geographic Information System (GIS), and performing backflow surveys.

Essential Duties

Conducts data collection in the field to include the use of global positioning system (GPS) equipment.

QA/QC of GPS data collected by other Del-Co personnel.

Perform on-going maintenance to GPS equipment. 

Maintains and updates GIS databases using off-the-shelf GIS software and related software applications. 

Collects, prepares, and digitizes spatial data into GIS format.

Reads and interprets source documents such as civil engineering plans, plot maps, planning and zoning maps, and legal descriptions.

Conducts mapping research, in the field and the office, to resolve conflicting information, ensure accuracy of the data, and respond to questions and concerns.

Maintains proficiency with GIS technology through continuing education to stay current with developments and trends in the field.

Conducts data collection and other tasks in the field using an unmanned aerial system (UAS) and ensures compliance with FAA regulations.

Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Any combination of training and work experience which indicates possession of the skills, knowledge, and abilities to perform the job duties successfully. 

High school diploma or GED.

A bachelor's degree in a geospatial field is preferred. 

Possession of a remote pilot license in compliance with the FAA's Part 107 regulations is preferred.

Proficient in Windows and Microsoft Office. 

Excellent communication skills and be able to interact on a professional level with Del-Co staff, contractors, developers, and homeowners. 

Must be detail orientated and well organized. 

Ability to comprehend and understand engineering plans and schematics.

Experience with GIS, waterline construction, and GPS data collection preferable.

Must be able to perform manual labor and work in adverse weather conditions.

Valid driver license with an acceptable driving record.
