Job description

The Third Key Holder is responsible for supporting the Gift Shop Manager in the daily operations of the Gift Shop, including supervising volunteers, assisting with merchandising, managing inventories, and executing special projects as assigned. This role helps ensure a welcoming and efficient retail environment aligned with Connecticut Children's mission and values.

Education and/or Experience Required:

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).

License and/or Certifications:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge:

  • Microsoft Office Suite.
  • POS system functionality.
  • Basic retail math and cash handling principles.

Skills:

  • Customer service and clear, friendly communication.
  • Visual merchandising and inventory control.

Abilities:

  • Prioritize tasks effectively in a dynamic retail setting.
  • Work evening shifts (until 8 p.m.) and weekends on a rotating basis.
  • Stand for extended periods.
  • Lift 25-35 pounds onto a cart or shelf.
     
  • Open and/or close the Gift Shop on a rotating schedule, complete register close-out and secure deposits in the safe.
  • Provide leadership and oversight for volunteers and staff in the absence of the Gift Shop Manager. -10%
  • Train volunteers and staff in register use, store procedures, theft prevention, cash handling, gift wrapping, and inventory processing. -10%
  • Maintain a clean and organized store environment, including cleaning shelves, vacuuming, and waste removal. -10%
  •  Process all forms of payment and ensure accurate daily financial settlements. -10%
  • Provide excellent, compassionate customer service to patients, families, and staff; respond promptly to customer needs. -20%
  • Promote sales through engaging product presentations and demonstrations. -10%
  • Monitor inventory levels, restock merchandise, and alert the Manager to high-demand items or supply shortages. -10%
  • Support the organization's mission and values through behavior that reflects the Connecticut Children's Standards. -10%
