Job description

SUMMARY

The Twig Gift Shop buyer/assistant manager will report to the gift shop manager, both of which shall be guided by the Twig Association. The buyer/assistant manager shall have the responsibility for ordering all merchandise and supplies to be sold or used in the gift shop.

STATUS: Part-time

LOCATION: Rochester General Hospital

DEPARTMENT: Twig Gift Shop

SCHEDULE: Mon-Fri 9am - 3pm.

ATTRIBUTES

  • Excellent customer service skills.

  • Ability to travel to various locations on scheduled business.

  • Strong understanding of business, retail/purchasing concepts, techniques and procedures.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create purchase orders, manage ordering, receiving, and pricing of merchandise into, and maintenance of, the POS software system.

  • Create and maintain professional relationships with merchandise suppliers.

  • Generate monthly and annual business reports to present to the Twig Association for approval.

  • Plan, implement and evaluate annual gift shop inventory daily, initiate markdowns as needed, to generate maximum profitability.

  • Report to/work with shop manager on other initiatives such as special in-shop and Twig events as needed.

  • Maintain a daily presence in the gift shop for floor maintenance, straightening, cleaning, displays, POS issues and customer service needs.

  • Conduct annual counting and create reports of shop inventory.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Associates degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience in retail/purchasing.

  • Must possess excellent analytical, problem solving, critical thinking decision-making skills, creativity.

M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.
