Surgery Tech Job, 8 hour Days Shifts with call, Community Surgery Center-GI CSC

Powers Health is hiring a Surgery Tech for the Community Surgery Center GI Department to work Days at Community Hospital in Munster, IN.

The Community Surgery Center GI Unit is an embodied staff of nurses who shall render professional nursing care to patients of all ages. The RN facilitates all aspects of the Endoscopy patient’s care. This includes pre-operative interviews and testing, result retrieval, the anesthesia interview process, and post-anesthesia and discharge care. Provides pre-operative patient and family eduction to the surgical populaiton. By utilitzing appropriate nursing knowledge, judgement and skills the Registered Nurse shall assume responsibilities such as for the preparation, administration, surveillance, maintenance and documentation of peripheral IV therapy to include implanted venous access devices as orderd by the physician for the purpose of therapeutic diagnostic treatment to meet the desired patient outcome.

Surgery TechRoles and Responsibilities:

  • Functions as a member of the Enodscopy team to deliver peri-operative care to the GI patient. Has necessary knowledge to prepare and maintain a safe environment, and skills to assist for Endoscopy procedures all in a manner which supports Powers Health Standards of Nursing Care.
  • Displays a high regard for human life and respects the dignity, uniqueness, worth and right of each individual.
  • Performs other related department/patient care duties as needed.

Required Skills & Qualifications for Surgery Tech:

  • High School graduation or equivalent in addition to;
  • Graduation from an accredited Surgical Technologist training program.
  • For graduates after July 1, 2009 – Certified Surgical Technologist Credentials, administered by the National Board of Surgical Technologist and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA), must be obtained within 12 months after graduation or employment if not certified upon hire.
  • 1-2 year surgical tech experience in an outpatient hospital/surgery center facility preferred.
  • Must accumulate 15 hours of AST approved Continuing Education related to Surgical Technologist per calendar year (July 1 thru June 30).
  • Maintain annual CPR Certification along with other mandatory competencies per hospital/department policy.
