HDR is seeking an Advanced Technology for Surface Transportation (ATST) & Funding Intern to help expand our services in the Midwest, with a focus on Missouri and Kansas. The position would report to the ATST (Advanced Technology for Surface Transportation) and Funding Section in Kansas City, Missouri.

The individual in this position supports all aspects of advanced technology projects that may include:

  • Provide support on ITS and traffic management system projects, including planning, engineering, design, integration, deployment, operations and maintenance, and communications
  • Automated, Connected, Electric, and Shared (ACES) vehicle projects and emerging technology projects
  • Electric Vehicle (EV) infrastructure planning and siting
  • Grant-writing assistance
  • Geospatial analysis and mapping

Preferred Qualifications

  • Preference given to local candidates
  • Analytical, organizational, interpersonal, and written communication skills
  • Prefer 2 years completed toward degree with 3.0+ GPA
  • Demonstrated knowledge of software packages related to field of study/industry

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program
  • Attention to detail
  • Possess strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills
