Position Summary
UNM-Valencia is accepting applications for a temporarypart-time faculty member to teach Geology courses at the 1000-2000 collegelevel in the Summer 2026, Fall 2026, and/or Spring 2027 semester(s). Positionsare contingent upon the need of each semester as determined by studentenrollment levels and current course offerings.
Located about 30 miles south of Albuquerque inrural Valencia County, The University of New Mexico-Valencia Campus is atwo-year branch campus of The University of New Mexico which functions as acommunity college in the region and is designated a Hispanic ServingInstitution. With an emphasis on teaching excellence, Valencia Campusoffers academic transfer programs, technical programs, Adult Education, andDual Credit courses to high schools in Valencia and Socorro Counties. Thefaculty and staff serve a student body of over 2,000 students per semester. UNMhas earned the platinum-level distinction from FamilyFriendlyNM.org for itsworkplace policies.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master's in Geology, or Master's in related field and 18 graduate credit hours in Geology
  • One year experience teaching at a post-secondary institution

Preferred Qualifications:
  • PhD, ABD, or EdD in Geology or related field
  • Experience and/or certification to teach online
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching at a post-secondary institution
  • A demonstrated commitment to cultivate an understanding of the rich and varied cultures of New Mexico and to the success of the university's mission to serve local and global communities
