CGI is seeking a Director, Generative AI & Intelligent Automation to help lead one of the largest public-sector AI transformation initiatives in the United States!
Based in Sacramento, CA, this highly visible, client-facing leadership role will support California's statewide AI modernization efforts while helping government, healthcare, and commercial organizations translate AI strategy into measurable business outcomes.
As a trusted advisor to CIOs, agency executives, and senior business leaders, you will guide organizations from AI experimentation to scalable, responsible enterprise adoption.
This role blends executive advisory, business development, technical leadership, and delivery enablement to drive meaningful transformation through generative AI and intelligent automation.
This role is in our Sacramento, CA CGI location.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
How you'll make an impact
Executive Advisory & Business Development
• Serve as a strategic advisor to C-suite executives and government leaders on AI strategy, adoption, governance, and business value
• Lead executive workshops, discovery sessions, and strategic presentations focused on enterprise AI transformation
• Identify, shape, and pursue new business opportunities across public-sector and commercial markets
• Support proposal development, solution positioning, and strategic deal pursuits
• Represent CGI as a thought leader through client engagements, industry forums, conferences, and executive briefings
AI Strategy & Technical Leadership
• Design and guide enterprise AI solutions leveraging Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), intelligent automation, and modern AI platforms
• Lead proof-of-concept initiatives and help define scalable AI architectures and implementation roadmaps
• Provide hands-on guidance in areas such as prompt engineering, model integration, AI governance, and responsible AI practices
• Evaluate emerging AI technologies, vendors, and platforms for business value, scalability, risk, and operational readiness
• Bridge business priorities with technical execution to ensure successful adoption and measurable outcomes
Leadership & Capability Development
• Mentor and develop AI practitioners, architects, and consulting teams across CGI
• Help establish and scale CGI's generative AI capabilities, methodologies, and delivery standards
• Foster collaboration across business, technology, and delivery organizations to accelerate AI innovation and adoption
• Contribute to internal AI enablement initiatives, reusable assets, and best practices
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
What you'll bring
• 10+ years of experience in enterprise technology, digital transformation, or IT consulting
• 5+ years in client-facing leadership, advisory, or consulting roles
• Strong hands-on knowledge of generative AI technologies and tools, including platforms such as ChatGPT, Claude, Microsoft Copilot, and enterprise AI ecosystems
• Experience designing or advising on AI solutions involving LLMs, RAG architectures, intelligent automation, or enterprise AI integration
• Proven ability to communicate complex technical concepts to executive and non-technical audiences
• Demonstrated success in business development, including proposal shaping, solution positioning, and supporting deal closures
• Ability to operate effectively in both strategic advisory and hands-on technical leadership capacities
• Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred

The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and licensure and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit-based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $169,400.00 - $296,500.00.
