Your Impact in This Role

This is a remarkable opportunity for a dedicated physician to become part of a busy, reputable practice, backed by a strong referral network and the extensive resources of a comprehensive health system.

  • Join a well-established team of three physicians with 24/7 Advanced Practice Provider (APP) trauma support.
  • Call structure: every third to fourth week of home call (no in-house call required).
  • Practice environment: a mix of inpatient and outpatient care, limited to one location.
  • Access to experienced pediatric support (including a first assistant) for after-hours cases, excellent weekday RN clinic assistance, and an integrated EMR system (Athena and Sunrise).
  • This is an employed position within a nonprofit health system.
  • Must be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pediatric General Surgery.
  • Eligibility for state medical licensure and DEA registration is required.
  • Provide comprehensive surgical care for general, thoracic, ECMO, and pediatric trauma cases while actively contributing to the development of the surgical program.
  • Engage in teaching, mentoring, and supervising general surgery residents, medical students, and new graduate surgeons in a collaborative, team-oriented setting.
  • Fellowship training in Pediatric General Surgery is mandatory.

  • A 197-bed pediatric facility, featuring 40 private inpatient beds, 8 short-stay beds, 23 PICU beds, 17 Pediatric ED beds, and a 109-bed Level IV NICU.
  • Verified as a Level One Children’s Surgery Center and a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center.
  • Serving a population of approximately 2 million in the greater Indianapolis area.

Minimum Qualifications Required

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • Physician MD/DO credential from the Indiana Medical Licensing Board must be obtained prior to the hire date or job transfer date.
  • Advanced Life Support certification is preferred; American Heart Association or American Red Cross certifications are accepted.

Education:

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) is required.
