Job description

Pay Range: $18.00-$21.94 (Pay information will vary depending upon relevant experience for the position)
Part Time- 20 Hours/week
GENERAL SCOPE: Prepares Kosher lunch and dinners for all residents their guests and employees.
EDUCATION / QUALIFICATION: High school diploma required. Associates Degree in culinary arts/food service is preferred. Must be able to read and follow recipe cards, write, add subtract, communicate in English and follow directions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Responsible for recipe adherence on all prepared items.
  • Prepares lunch entrees based on daily menu.
  • Completes prep of dinner entrees, side dishes, salad, starch and desserts.
  • Prepares entrees that are pre-ordered for Enriched Living residents and Extended Care residents.
  • Prepares plates for all residents/guests in a timely and attractive manner.
  • Prepares foods as assigned from standardized recipes.
  • Maintains kitchen cleanliness and food preparation according to state and local health department code requirements.
  • Responsible for temperature checks of coolers/freezers.
  • Responsible for temperature checks of food leaving the kitchen.
  • Responsible for cleaning work areas including scrubbing, cleaning, sweeping and mopping.
  • Responsible for completing production sheets for each meal.
  • Responsible for pulling and using proper items for day's menus.
  • Responsible for maintaining Kosher integrity.
  • Responsible for covering, dating and labeling all products whenever used.
  • Responsible for cleaning and maintaining a sanitary environment while working.
  • Keeps work area and serving line equipment clear and adheres to sanitation cleaning schedules.
  • Ensures that all condiments and garnishes that are required are prepared and served with appropriate foods
  • Strives to maintain a safe working environment through the prevention of accidents, the preservation of equipment and the achievement of safe working practice.
  • All other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE: At least 3 years of cooking in high quality restaurant/hotel. Must possess knowledge of sanitation, recipes and teamwork. Must possess good organizational skills.
