Job description

The Taylor lab is seeking a Part-Time (20-24 hours/week) research technician to work with the plant tissue culture and molecular biology teams to develop enhanced genetic transformation systems for cassava.  The candidate will be responsible for general lab duties such as media preparation, providing assistance with the tissue culture, molecular laboratory and greenhouse-based research.  The individual should have a basic understanding of sterile techniques and be able to maintain a clean and organized work environment.  Preference will be given to candidates who have working knowledge in plant tissue culture.  Candidate must be able to operate successfully in team environments to deliver results in a timely manner.  

Responsibilities:

  • General lab duties
  • Preparation of chemical stock solutions
  • Preparation of sterile media
  • Plant Micropropagation
  • Transfer of plantlets to soil for greenhouse studies

Qualifications:

  • Required - Associate's degree in science-related discipline; Preferred - Bachelor's degree with a focus on biological sciences
